Grimwyrd: Chance Meetings

12:03 Ken (GM): alright, alright, everyone alive then? Recuperated from last week’s AWESOMENESS?!

12:04 Joush M.: Yes, I live again

12:04 P.P. A.: pew pew. what is the floor made out of, by the way?

12:05 Fiss: Tasteful interlocking ceramic hybrid tile from Home Depot

Castle

Not to scale….not the original map either. Lost that in a n archive dump, sorry 😛

Ken (GM) Where last we left our heroes; The blazing corpse of the mindflayer lies beheaded and maimed on the floor. His lab is a shambles of black curling smoke pouring out of the burning rug and pool of unknown red fluids. Roderick stands poised to destroy it’s severed head, green light and an unknown voice on his lips. He roils in anger at the death of the thing, perhaps for not being the one to strike the blow?

12:06 Ken (GM): [floor seems to be carved stone, but the tool work is immaculate.  Almost….MAGICAL?]

12:07 P.P. A.: good, so it won’t burn down
The carpet might though, and the pot of [unidentified]

12:09  (To Roderick): You’re still mentally combating the force from your sword FYI

Gray snarls savagely and pulls the blade from the twitching body of the tentacled horror they’d battled. Smoke from the burning furniture curling around the gigantic form of the savage beast. “Our minds are our own, monster.” It’s only then that he seems to recover enough from his rage to turn his attention to Roderick, looking to him there with the emerald possession. “Release him, Fae one”

12:11  (To Roderick): You can still see and hear everything normally, but your arm is fighting you for control. That happy/angry feeling is trying to wrench your sword into the flayer’s head

Suðri Skornbrekker eyes with unease the burning red fluids, and is prepared to put on his mask should any oddly colorful plumes billow from it—but the main concern now is Roderick.

Suðri Skornbrekker shame about the carpet though, it looked valuable.

12:12 Ken (GM): [99% sure Suðri is just wearing that thing constantly now]

Roderick keeps fighting his sword

Suðri Skornbrekker cautiously steps closer [I assume we’re currently out of combat time?]

12:13 Ken (GM): [safe assumption]

Syviis Adjeon is certain the party can hold Rod in peace / check what is happening, so she’ll stalk over(arrow lowered but ready) to the wizard to cover her.

12:15 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Can we help you, Roderick?” The dwarf’s bardiche is raised—ready to try and block any sudden attack, or to strike the sword out of the nobleman’s hand.

Ken (GM) the wizardess is laid low, an arrow in her gut, and burned flesh crackling if she moves. Her breath comes in short shallow gasps

Gray looks to  Suðri  and trust him to see to Roderick, and Roderick to fight the strange, alien influence of that mystic blade. The towering beast flicks blood and ichor from the bronze blade of the massive Gorgoth-made sword and walks after Syviis, adding his own weight to her intimidating presence.

12:15  (To Roderick): STRIKE LOW THE BEAST; THE DEFEAT OF IT SHOULD BE OURS!

Ken (GM) An alien voice rings from Roderick’s face “STRIKE LOW THE BEAST; THE  DEFEAT OF IT SHOULD BE OURS!”

Suðri Skornbrekker mumbles something rude in Dwarven about magic and magic artifacts under his breath

12:18 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Become a gun then, sword; don’t blame others!” He yells at it, doubtful if that will help. If Roderick tries to attack Gray or him, he is prepared. “And release him already!”

12:19  (To Roderick): So, whatcha gonna do?

12:20  (From Doc): Trying to regain control or drop the sword, I guess. Roll Will?

12:23  (To Roderick): yes please; you exert your will back into your won arm, trying to wrest control back into solely your own!

Gray finds some sympathy for the burned out mage as his rage subsides, putting away that massive sword and going to provide what limited assistance he can, to her. Speaking Calmly and carefully “Tell me, if you can, if you’ve seen a man and a dwarf brought here.”

Suðri Skornbrekker steps a bit closer (so he can try and restrain Roderick if he does anything weird) but doesn’t attack either.

Syviis Adjeon looks a bit unsettled, but holds point. “I should have remembered their blasted mind link…I didn’t think..”

Ken (GM) She gurgles a bit, but manages to speak to Gray “…th.e… vault…” and points to the door in the South-West wall of the room

12:24 Gray: “Don’t second guess yourself. You reacted in the heat of battle”

Syviis Adjeon nods quickly, then attempts first aid to see if anything at all is possible to save the poor slave. “If I can, I will relieve you of your pain. I am sorry…”

12:25 Roderick: rolling 3d6 vs 13 Will(6+2+1)= 9

12:25 Ken (GM): rolling 3d6(4+3+4)= 11 Will(opposed check)

12:25  (To Roderick): You push back, hard, and force the presence from yourself. Your body is your own, your will your own!SicillianRapier

Ken (GM) Rod struggles against something and the light in his visage subsides. When he opens his eyes, they are his own again

12:26 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Have you come to your senses again?”

Roderick nods “My senses were still mine, but now my actions are as well.”

Gray provides Syviis with his makeshift first aid kit and assist as well as he can. The massive brute allows her to take the lead.

12:27 Ken (GM): fiss! First Aid!

12:28 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(3+1+3)= 7

Suðri Skornbrekker relaxes a bit. “So it was mad at not getting to strike down the mindflayer… what did it try to get you to do? Does it grow stronger with killing enemies?”

12:28 Roderick: “I’m not sure. All I know is that it likes it, and it resents my restraint.”

12:28 Doc: didn’t that arrow hit the vitals?

12:28 Fiss: Probably ;_;

12:32 Suðri Skornbrekker: “And I resent it and its lack of restraint. I suggest you throw it in that burning cauldron over there before its gets worse.”

12:32 Joush M.: [Welcome back Adolf. Great to see you again]

12:32 Adolf S.: [Ahoy Joush, PPA, Fiss, Ken. I went on some adventures, fun times.]

12:32 P.P. A.: welcome back!

Roderick looks at the cauldron thoughtfully

Ken (GM) the burning cauldron smolders back.

12:32  (To Fiss): The arrow is sitting in an important place. She needs surgery to live.

Gray looks to Roderick from where he kneels beside the badly injured mage, helping Syviis as she tends to the woman’s wounds and satisfied that Roderick is again the master of his own mind.

12:34  (From Syviis Adjeon): Another thing Syviis will hope to learn in her hopefully old age… she leans close “I’m sorry, there is nothing I can do. I can end it quickly if you wish, and give message to your kin. Or I can try…and you may live a bit longer in pain.”

12:35  (To Fiss): She looks at you with a kind of fearful panic “I want to live!” she manages, with blood on her lips

Syviis Adjeon turns back to the mage and nods.

12:36 Syviis Adjeon: “I will do everything I can.”

12:36 Doc: [Any indication of what’s in the cauldron?]

12:37 Syviis Adjeon: hunts quickly through the first aid kit “If anyone sees any healing magic…this is the time to let me know…

12:37 P.P. A.: in b4 it’s a “potion of Transform Sentient Weapon Into Mecha” potency increases with temperature

Ken (GM) The cauldron is a roiling mess. As it burns, a black skin chars to the top, and is swallowed by the pot. The flames burn fierce, but don’t seem to spread. The smoke is gathering on the ceiling though

Roderick disregards the cauldron, saying “I doubt it would help” as he drops the sword and turns to the wounded mage. He’s no doctor, but he can certainly try to help.

u27kuht.jpg

12:41 Ken (GM): [so fiss, surgery?]

12:41 Syviis Adjeon: [Does it default to anything?]

12:42 Ken (GM): hahahah oh dear

12:42 Syviis Adjeon: 😛

Gray shakes his head, the brute tightening his jaw and frustrated at his helplessness.  “There’s little I could do.” He rises to his feet, allowing Roderick to help the woman as he looks around the room. Walking to the Vault door.

12:42 Ken (GM): “Defaults: First Aid-12, Physician-5, Physiology-8, or Veterinary-5

12:42 Syviis Adjeon: o_o

12:43 Doc: I have Esoteric Medicine because low-tech

12:43 Joush M.: So.. Veterianry?”

12:43 Doc: Also Diagnosis if that matters

12:44 Syviis Adjeon: [Diagnosis is generally what to tell is wrong, and HAS to be rolled first. But With the elf there..she knows what damage the arrow has done, so she can point it out.]

12:45 Roderick: rolling 3d6 vs 11 Diagnosis (3+3+3)= 9

Syviis Adjeon is sweating bullets from behind her mask as she exposes the wound(s) carefully

Ken (GM) The arrow has sunk deep in her gut, right through a crux of organs and veins. Moving the arrow at all, she bleeds heavily. Pressure is the only thing keeping her alive at the moment

12:48 Ken (GM): [anyone wanna dig in on that?]

Roderick shakes his head sadly as he looks at the wound. He can try, but it would take a miracle to save her.

12:50 Syviis Adjeon: “Mage…do you have any healing potions? Salves? Anything here to help?”

Gray looks around the room, searching a moment while staying by the door. He scents the air and stands quietly by as Syviis and Roderick see to the mage.

Suðri Skornbrekker looks on at the scene, but there isn’t much he could contribute. He recalls that one time he tried to save the Dreugar, and decides he should not interfere. He walks over to Gray, to also stand vigil

12:53 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Should we wait until they are finished, or should we go inside by ourselves?” he asks the Beastman, having picked up his guns and now cleaning and reloading them.

12:53 Roderick: “I have a few healing potions in my saddlebags. I don’t have many, but if you want to try teleporting, I’ll do what I can to keep her alive.”

12:54 Ken (GM): [ooh right, you packed those away day one, but left em on Bavieca]

12:54 P.P. A.: muh encumberance

12:54 Doc: Don’t have a backpack or anything to carry them with

12:55  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): You notice from here, the mindflayer has a gun half-disassembled and rebuilt on his workbench

12:55 Gray: “I don’t want to leave them behind, but I don’t want to risk any delay when the others are in danger. Let’s go though the door and see what lies beyond.”

Ken (GM) The door towers up, above the head of even the Fallen ‘Flayer. The stone doors carved with intricate abstract geometric patterns

12:57 Suðri Skornbrekker: “I agree…” Suðri’s voice trails off as something on the nearby table catches his attention. He walks up and picks something up—part of a musket. He shakes his head and puts it back down. “No time for that now. Let’s go.”

Suðri Skornbrekker has his two muskets and bardiche on him

12:57  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): The gun is yours! the one stolen by the mindflayer back at the ruined temple! It’s been cut down, and stuffed full of..well, magical bullshit

12:58  (From P.P. A.): I figured, I remember the mindflayer picked up a gun when we encountered it in the slaver’s den. Suðri will inspect it more closely when they get back and ponder the consequences then…did he pass on the knowledge?

12:58 Roderick: “I could try to save her with what we have here, but…”

Gray picks up the grenade they didn’t get a chance to set off before the mindflayer teleported. Walking over to open the door next, leaning into the finely carved door.

Ken (GM) the door swings freely, and frigid air pours out. Mist pools at your feet as the air mingles in the heat of your room.

12:59 Syviis Adjeon: to Rod “Let’s try…but I fear I shot too early and thought too little.”

1:00 Roderick: “She may have killed one of us. It’s unfortunate, but you did what you had to.”

1:01 Syviis Adjeon: nods “I’ll make peace with this later, don’t worry. I am still ready to fight.” begins to First Aid her best

1:02 Doc: Can I do anything with Esoteric Medicine? (I didn’t realize Physician would actually be available)

Ken (GM) beyond the chilly door, a dimly lit room is revealed. Sarcophagi line the walls and are stacked on the floor. Between them, pulsing black tubes work away, while green light billows up through the polished stone floor. Veins of light cast weird shadows over everything

8392677a5a70dedd55c9b7b801521402.jpg

Suðri Skornbrekker looks if the black tubes connect to the sarcophagi somehow

Gray steps into the room filled with Sarcophagi, looking around as mist curls around his powerful body, the Scorned brute looking to the pulsing black tubes as strange shadows dance across his rough features. He scents the air. Hunting Bomrek’s scent.

1:03 (To Gray): Bomrek’s unique blend of alcohol and gunpowder is there in the chill air. As is Falkirk’s unwashed robes. They should be in the North corner somewhere, judging by the airs…

1:03 Ken (GM): @doc: Shes pretty badly done in. She needs the thing extracted from a deep wound, so this is beyond first aid now. No bandage is gonna stop internal bleeding

1:04  (From Syviis Adjeon): *RESISTING URGE TO “CAUTERIZE WOUND WITH LIGHTNING…I MEAN GUN FIRE…I MEAN>..

1:05  (To Fiss): HAH

1:05 Joush M.: To fix her you’d need to carefully expand the hole, find every severed major blood vessel, clamp them off, cut the arrowhead free and remove it, sew the damaged major blood vessels together, unclamp them, draw the skin together, sew it up, then hope she won’t bleed to death or die from infection.

1:05 Ken (GM): [so does someone wanna roll First aid -12?]

1:05 Joush M.: make sure to get out every bit of fabric and hope the arrowhead is intact too

1:06 Syviis Adjeon: [I’m going to risk it. Need to Crit, of course. No ifs ands or buts…but will try.]

NotificationsControl.png

1:06 Doc: Rod needs to roll a 2

1:06 Joush M.: Good luck!

1:06 Syviis Adjeon: Yeah, I need to roll a 1
rolling 3d6(1+4+5)=10
Nope…

1:06 P.P. A.: just 8 too many!

Roderick grits his teeth and gives it a shot 10

1:06 Syviis Adjeon: I rolled a 1…with 0…lol

1:06 Doc: ebin

Syviis Adjeon tries to work around the wound, realizing only too late that blood is now coming faster and faster. Realizing coldly that there is little time…

Ken (GM) the two of you try, the wound is deep, and she just wont stop bleeding!

1:07 Syviis Adjeon: “Tell me of your kin, mage…Talk to us. Who were you before the evil took you?”

Ken (GM) after a few moments, she shudders, and lies still

1:08 P.P. A.: rip
I told you about elves man!
psychopaths the lot of them, especially the ones who throw around magic!

1:08 Doc: would have tried using fire to cauterize the wound but that probably would have just made it actual torture

Syviis Adjeon lets out a long sigh and reaches over to close her eyes.

Suðri Skornbrekker looks around the vault, trying to see if there are any obvious signs of some coffins having been disturbed more recently—thick layers of dust on the others, perhaps, drops of blood —anything.

Gray goes north in the room and scents the air, then attempts to open the chamber he’s come to. Grasping the sarcophagi and working the lid open.

Ken (GM) gray shoves aside the massive stone slab

1:09  (To Gray): yep. Thats bomrek all right. And there’s a big black octopus on his face, with rubbery tendrils leading into the sides of the coffin.

1:10  (To Gray): It starts movingdownload.jpg

1:10 Roderick: rolling 3d6 for bad temper(5+3+4)= 12

Syviis Adjeon uses a portion of her precious canteen to wash her hands, then stands up, bow and arrow ready. -10 to see if she has any tears…she’s ready to fight it out.

1:10 Syviis Adjeon: “Onward.”

Roderick puts a hand on her shoulder to reassure her. “I know of no surgeon who could have saved her. Only magic would have helped.”

1:11 P.P. A.: RIP falkirk
remember when he fixed Syviis’ ribcage torn open, that was cool

Gray makes a sound of hatred mixed with disgust and swings a hand to try and knock something from inside the sarcophagus

Syviis Adjeon smiles through her mask and nods “Something I will beg the elders to allow me to learn after all of this is done.”

Syviis Adjeon walks to the ‘cellar’ to see what is going on.

Roderick looks at where he dropped the sword to see if it’s still there, then follows the others

Suðri Skornbrekker, in the absence of any obvious tells, does as Gray does and just opens the nearest coffin.

1:13  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): The slab slides free easily enough. Inside is a desiccated gray body of a dwarf. His skin is near translucent, and the scent of alcohol is on the air. On it’s face, the body has a big black squid-like thing, where the rubbery black tubes end

1:13  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): The body moves

1:14  (To Gray): the thing is latched on, wrapped its limbs about Bomrek’s face. It goes REEEEEE

Ken (GM) Gray calls out, and the coffin squeals REEEEEE

Suðri Skornbrekker steps back and draws his Falchion

1:14 Ken (GM): [GOOD GOD HES ARMED]

[GM’s note; possibly the one and olny time this particular dwarf draws out this particular sidearm. Somehow, he never ended up using his sword, ever -Ken]

1:15 P.P. A.: actually nvm if he steps back he can just use his bardiche

Suðri Skornbrekker steps back and holds his bardiche at the ready

Ken (GM) a pale arm lifts from the stone sarcophagus, long nails like claws its fingers. Pale clear flesh pulsing with black veins.

1:16 Adolf S.: Watch out, it’s a meth addict!

Gray grabs the creature and pulls it free, two hands digging into slimy flesh and ripping it off

Suðri Skornbrekker uses his bardiche to stab and try to remove the squidlike thing he sees inside the coffin, while ignoring Gray’s perils—if he doesn’t act fast, he might have to face the same!

Ken (GM) the thing takes the bardiche blade like a ham at dinner, slicing clean and bleeding freely. A few jabs of the weapon and it stops entirely

1:17  (To Gray): It crumples in your grip, something important snapping. as you pull it free, a long tube is pulled from Bomrek’s mouth

1:17  (To Gray): He gasps for air and wakes up immediately

Gray hurls something to the ground and stomps it hard with a mailed boot, snarling and growling down at it as he crushes it dead. “Boomrek! Are you still in there?” He demands of the dwarf in the massive stone coffin.

1:18  (To Bomrek): You’re alive, you’re cold, and Gray is standing over you. All you can taste is…disgusting

Suðri Skornbrekker turns around at the mention of his comrade, relieved that the mess in the coffin before him is not what is left of the mercenary.

1:20 Ken (GM): [lulz : “I didnt kill bomrek! Awesome”]

1:20 P.P. A.: well, the thing he killed was sucking on a dwarf that was already in a pretty bad state so at worst he would have ended his suffering

1:21 Suðri Skornbrekker: “If that thing in there moves, probably better shoot it!” he tells Syviis as he runs past her.

Syviis Adjeon aims and nods

Gray is torn, but can’t wait.. he follows the scent of Falkirk, looking for the physician’s prison here.

Roderick draws his (non-magic) rapier and prepares for trouble

Ken (GM) Gray stalks to the next sarcophagus, and pries at the lid

Suðri Skornbrekker takes a look at Bomrek to see what state he is in. Hoping he is in a better shape than that other coffin’d dorf.

1:24 Joush M.: Oh god, he’s hideous! Ugly and reeking of gin!

1:25 Doc: That’s a relief51f5b33412b44bee910940268c52ecb1

Bomrek looks up at you all, and looks extra surly. “What in the nine hells…” he rubs his hand hard against his face. “What..where am I-” he stops talking, and jerks up into a sitting position, looking around at you all hard. [Does he see the saddle bags with you all? And is everybody present and accounted for, no stragglers from our team?]

1:27 P.P. A.: we left the saddlebags behind when we went here

Falkirk isn’t immediately visible since he’s in that other coffin

1:28 Bomrek : “Where the- Did you leave our loot unattended?!” he looks confusedly at  Suðri , and tries to clamber out of the Coffin, almost falling out before regaining his balance.

Gray tries to remove any squids from Falkirk’s face.

Bomrek takes a few steps toward the door, shaky at first, and then stops, and looks back at you. “Did you lot kill that monster that attacked me?”
[Insert description of monster I as a player have not seen yet. 15 feet tall, I think it was said?]

Suðri Skornbrekker smiles, relieved that Bomrek is still the same old guy. He beats his chestplate and boasts: “Roasted, shot, and beheaded. And don’t worry, the loot is still there.” Or so he hopes.gold_pile_0

1:30 Bomrek: “What in the world did I go on this damned adventure for if you lot’ let my gold get stolen, eh?” he gestures around at you, not really able to get properly angry considering the circumstances, but still feeling like he should, clearly.

1:30 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Falkirk though…” He worriedly walks around the coffin to see what Gray is doing.

1:30 Bomrek: [What’s the description of the new guy, again? Physically, gear wise, etc.
Also GM do I have my weapons or did they get dropped? Certainly I still have my brace of pistols at the least, if not, ja?]

1:30  (To Gray): Falkirk is lying still, unmolested, no squids or tubes. He is however slate gray, blue lips. He’s breathing, barely

Gray touches Falkirk’s throat and frowns. “He’s barely breathing.”

1:31 Ken (GM): [youre still wearing your armor, belts, everything. Looking about in a panic, your big double barrel monstrosity is tucked in the corner of the room]

Suðri Skornbrekker turns around to the two heal-y people and beckons them to come over.

Bomrek walks over, a little lumbering-y since he’s still a bit out of it, and looks at Falkirk for a long few seconds, before turning away and going to grab his double rifle.

1:32 Doc: New guy is tall dark and handsome, wearing brigantine and using a cloak and rapier

1:32 Bomrek: I recall somebody mentioned something about good quality gear/rich-lookin’. What’s the deal with that?

1:33 Ken (GM): [oh yes, he looks polished and clean. Well appointed armor. Well crafted]

1:34 Doc: He looks rich, his sword is really fancy

1:34 Bomrek: And Bomrek is aware that this guy apparently tried to be king of England but got teleported here instead, then?

1:34 Doc: Like $6000 fancy

1:35 Ken (GM): [hah, aware, yes, that Rod was once a noble, certainly. That point was salient]

1:35 Fiss: Like, 4999 on sale fancy.

1:36 Doc: I think the party is aware that Roderick is trying to claim glory so he can become a noble again

Gray wears a tremendous amount of relatively inexpensive and comparatively outdated mail armor and has an inhuman, lupine cast to monstrous features. In comparison, Roderick’s quite handsome, though he’s no Horsa. The huge Scorned lifts Falkirk carefully and gently from the coffin.

1:37 Bomrek: Is Roderick magical at all, or is he just a good swordsman?

1:37 Doc: He shoots fireroderick

1:37 P.P. A.: not sure if you told us about the “again” part

Ken (GM) Falkirk comes free from the sarcophagus, he is cold and unmoving.

1:38 Doc: Yeah I don’t think he’s discussed the details of why he’s not a nobleman anymore

1:39 Gray: “He was hurt before this. Injured by his contact with that dark power here. This can’t have helped.. can anyone think of how to help him?”

1:39 Ken (GM): [so far, the fabled blade was a bit more important. the noble bit hadn’t come up much]

1:39 Bomrek: Does Bomrek even know his name? Has there been much conversation at all?

1:40 Ken (GM): [it was handwaved a bit, yeah, but Bomrek knows hes not a demon out to kill everyone, he knows his name is Rod]

1:41 Bomrek: Bomrek walks over to Roderick, eyes on Falkirk, but talking side-long to the swordsman. “You picked a fine time to get magicked away to the far corners of the earth, aye [Dwarven word of light-camaraderie here]” Bomrek pulls out his flask and has a nip as he says this.

1:42  (To Bomrek): The flask is chilled, the whiskey ice cold. Problem is, you cant taste anything

Suðri Skornbrekker looks over his shoulder into the other room. “…I doubt trying random magic things and potions from here would do much good. Curses.”

1:42 Bomrek: A very hard, angry look crossed Bomrek’s face, and he Glares down at his flask.

1:43 Roderick: “It has been… an ordeal.”

1:43 Bomrek: “Oh, funny, who replaced me Whiskey with water?” and looks around. “This is no time for jokes.”

1:43 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Wake up, Falkirk!”

1:44 Bomrek: [Wake me up inside]

Ken (GM) Falkirks limp form doesnt move. [cant wake up]

1:44 P.P. A.: I called his name but I can’t save him from the dark.

1:44 Bomrek: [SAAAVE MEEE]

kv4KpGu.jpg

Roderick moves closer and attempts to Diagnose Falkirk

1:45 Roderick: rolling 3d6 vs 11 (2+3+6) = 11

1:45 Doc: (however close I have to be to get a good look)

Gray nods grimly, wrapping Falkirk in his cloak and carrying the dying wizard from the icy room. He makes the man as confortble as he can there in the distrubing lab.

1:45 Joush M.: over here by the table?

1:46 Ken (GM): [grays got him]

1:47  (To Roderick): Diagnosis says “Unnatural torpor”. Signs of life indicate hes in an induced comatose state. His pupils are responsive to light as you open the eyes, but pulse is barely there as is breathing. And his body temp is impossibly low. There is a thick necromantic tingle on him though, from your wizard senses. Leaves a taste of chalk in your mouth

Gray grinds his teeth, then after setting the spellcaster down he nods. “I’ll go tear open the other coffins. There may be another survivor.” He says grimly, expecting to find nothing but horrors in that eerie room lit by the pulseing tubes.

Bomrek idles in a room a few moments, staring at the crypt you ‘lot pulled him out of, before walking into the main room and giving hard stares to all the magic-looking shit.

Suðri Skornbrekker waves Bomrek to come over, and shows him the half-disassemble musket on the table, tinkered with to have magic stuff in it.

1:49 Ken (GM): [there’s a bunch. Table with weird crystals an red dust in bowls, plus a disassembled musket. Table covered in weird runes and vials. Table covered in papers, weird tools and a glowing pool of green]

1:49 Suðri Skornbrekker: “When we were in that slaver’s den, a mindflayer appeared, picked up one of our muskets, and… disappeared.”

1:49 Ken (GM): -[somthing that looks like a still with weird creatures in tanks right beside]
-[Big blue crystal covered in more runes, glowing and hovering]
-[burning cauldron of red stuff]
-[two big pools of clear water with blue light coming out of it]
-[dead woman in a pool of her own blood]
-[bed]

1:50 Suðri Skornbrekker: “It must have been this one, and he’s been tinkering with that musket since. I hope he didn’t pass on any of that knowledge to the dreugar or anyone else yet.”

1:51 Ken (GM): [you recall, the dreugar fired a grenade at you, from a musket]

1:51 Bomrek: Bomrek looks it over. What’s different about it? Etched in ritual signs, I assume?

Suðri Skornbrekker strokes his beard and tries to remember the shape of the grenade launcher they used.

1:53 Joush M.: They left it back with the entry, I think. Gray has the grenade, that could remind you

Ken (GM) the modified musket looks like the gearbox has been removed, and stuffed with crystals of various shapes, encircled by weird runes and other etchings. The cheap human design has been inlaid with silvery veins that travel the length of the now shortened barrel, which is plugged! A big red stone is sitting in the mouth of the thingdeca745d66ac89f48281b85654f8914f.jpg

Suðri Skornbrekker is hit by the realization that this must be the basis of that grenade-launcher…

1:54  (To Gray): The cold storage is full of horrifying things, but nothing that puts up much of a fight. Coffin after coffin with a sickly looking pale dwarven body, a squid thing latched to its face. Each of them has the stench of a ghoul, but none of the lithe mad spirit the ones you fought, did. They struggle vainly to reach for you

1:54 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Damn it, they’re fast…” he mumbles, “hopefully that knowledge didn’t spread too far then, but if they only use it to lob grenades…”

Ken (GM) the Cold room squals with the sounds of dying ghouls, and an angry Beastman

1:55  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): Roll IQ

1:55  (To Bomrek): Roll IQ

1:55  (From Suðri Skornbrekker): 11v12

1:55 Bomrek: “What the.. They took a shite design and made it even more shite. Look at this, these barbarians just shove their magical stones in and gunk up the works.” he slaps his hand against the receiver lightly in disgust.

Gray stalks though the room about his grim work, preventing whatever this house of horrors was attempting without bothering to understand why the illithid uses captives in these strange coffins with those repressive squid.

1:56 Bomrek: rolling 3d6(1+6+1)= 8 vs IQ10

Ken (GM) Both the dwarves look at each other a moment, and a spark of realization hits them

1:57  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): Years ago, ages ago, there was a clan of dwarves rumored to have been cast out of the houses. Struck from the records, their lineage line thrown into the pits. They were forbidden, for transgressions to taboo to speak of. This…may be the remains of that clan

1:57  (To Bomrek): Years ago, ages ago, there was a clan of dwarves rumored to have been cast out of the houses. Struck from the records, their lineage line thrown into the pits. They were forbidden, for transgressions to taboo to speak of. This…may be the remains of that clan

1:57 Bomrek: [B:”Are you thinking what I’m thinking  Suðri ?”
S:”Yes I think so!”
B:”We can sell this for profit!” S:”We can understand their design!”)

(the last two bits meant to be said at the same time)

1:58 Doc: Profit and science – two great tastes that taste great together

1:59 Ken (GM): whispering intensifies

1:59  (From Bomrek): Which portion of this makes that clear to Bomrek? Was that clan dabbling in magic of this sort? Or craftsdwarfship of this sort?

2:00  (To Bomrek): The grenade launcher/grenade they found. The fact that these are dwarves, in the south/forbidden lands. The fact that this is apparently a dwarven keep in those lands.

2:00  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): The grenade launcher/grenade you found. The fact that these are dwarves, in the south/forbidden lands. The fact that this is apparently a dwarven keep in those lands. Its all adding up

Gray has a lot of coffins to open before he returns to the others. “Any change?” He asks, gaze falling to the fallen physician.

2:00 Syviis Adjeon: “I can see if the Key can bring him back, but I fear it’s less a beacon and more of a tap to the power the physician is lost in.”

2:01 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Bomrek, do you remember that clan… er… the name eludes me. Cast out from all the forts and caves, a blemish putrefied even in the deep’s darkness?”

2:02 Bomrek: “Aye, aye.. what was their name..” Bomrek puts a gloved finger up to his chin. “Catfish-something, aye? But yes, I recall.” He continues the rest in Dwarvish [“This could be the remains of them, or perhaps descendants? This is important news, we should tell some one back in the mountainhome when we can.”]

The Raven Chirrups “You are wise to avoid tampering with it’s power, Syviis”

2:02 Bomrek: What the hell is that. A magical talking bird?

The Raven sits perched on the cannon. It looks at Bomrek from a long black beak

2:03 Bomrek: Has Bomrek ran into this thing before? Is this something he’s seen already.

2:03 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Oh right, that’s Gray’s… something. Dunno. It’s friendly.”

2:04 Syviis Adjeon: nods to the bird, but her mind is still racing “I wish I knew if he was still…conscious. Perhaps he could lead himself back to us. But I will trust what my friends say…do we try to bring him back or do we hope more answers are ahead?”

Bomrek uses his free hand to pull one of his pistols from the brace of them on his chest, and aims at the bird, all in quick military-trained fashion. “Oi!”

Well.

That’s assuming Bomrek’s not seen this before.

If he has, then ignore that.

2:04 Raven: [nah, thats pretty much what we expected. Hasnt met her yet]

Gray nods, dragging a hand though his hair and agreeing with Syviis. “You can’t save a man from drowning by drowning yourself.. I.. Wish there was something more I could do.”
“The raven is with me, Bomrek” He agrees with  Suðri , nodding to Bomrek as he stands there a moment, wiping blood and gore from his blade, then speaking to the dwarf. “It’s on our side, and a spirit. Don’t waste the shot”

2:05 Bomrek: “What the blazes is that?!” Bomrek says, pointing his pistol at the bird.

The Raven looks unperturbed by the gun “Well met, Bomrek. I hope you are well”

2:06 Suðri Skornbrekker: “It might be creepy, but it is friendly. He helped us track you two down.”

2:06 Bomrek: “Get fucked you flying rat.” he turns toward Gray and backs up. “What devil’s-work is this?”

2:07 Gray: “I don’t know.” He admits freely, the towering beast shrugging. “Magic, I believe.” He holds out a hand to the raven, letting it land on his arm. “You’ve seen plenty of magic here, why is this worse?”

2:07 Bomrek: “Because it can talk!” he says stubbornly, lowering his pistol so it’s not pointed at you. “We were lucky when that moon-worshiper took his devil away from us, and you bring another in? Birds do NOT talk, I’ve ate enough to know. Anything that can talk, can lie. Anything that can lie, can get us killed.”

2:09 Suðri Skornbrekker: “So far it only got that guy killed,” he points at the mindflayer’s sorry corpse. “Roderick’s sword talks too, by the way, but that one is crazy.”

Gray nods thoughtfully. “So doubt and question it. It would be foolish for us to trust a new ally blindly in a place like this. But no need to shoot it now.”

2:09 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Anyway…” he walks over to Falkirk’s body, more concerned now with the fate of their comrade.

2:10 Syviis Adjeon: “And sometimes talking saves lives.” smirks “Would you prefer I go back to writing things down?”

2:11 Ken(GM) : [hah, zing]

XXlfrz0

2:11 Bomrek: “Aye, maybe so miss Elf.” he takes a few steps toward her while storing away his pistol in his braces, and pulling out his flask. “I dont’ suppose you’re the one who replaced my whiskey with water, are ‘ye?”

Gray shakes his head. “Her, not it.” He corrects himself, trying not to be rude to the glossy black bird as he looks around the room.

The Raven “I am unoffended. I cannot lie. You should trust only those you wish to”

Roderick looks from Falkirk to Suðri. “He’s in bad shape, and may be fading. I can sense foul magic at work on him, but I don’t know what I could do to stop it. The last person I tried to save turned out… well..” He looks at the bloody mage on the ground.

2:15 Syviis Adjeon: “We must choose. Falkirk has saved us all in turn…we either push on or…I am willing to try what I can for the man. It is the least I can do, and he may be useful in the magical traps and unknowns ahead.

Time…is also against us, though. What say you, friends?”

Suðri Skornbrekker face darkens. “His mind had been lost to magic from some time; I doubt this experience did him well.”

2:16 Syviis Adjeon: “This is my biggest fear as well. That who we get back may not be the one we lost.”

2:16 Bomrek: Why are we on a time limit again?

2:16 Syviis Adjeon: “Because the longer we wait, the weaker he becomes. ”

2:17 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Ere he drifts away from us for good, let us try whatever we can. His expertise in magic is of great value, and… well, I would hate to lose him.”

2:17 Bomrek: [Said that ooc by the way. Was makin’ sure we weren’t going to have to Indiana Jones our way out of a collapsing temple.]

2:17 Syviis Adjeon: [oops, well, there ya go. :P]

2:17 Gray: “I don’t think you should risk yourself for this.” He says gently to Syviis. “Anything powerful enough to take Falkirk would be powerful. Dangerous. We will do what we can for him but he did know the risk and chose to face them.” He says in that deep, rough voice, reluctantly shaking his head

2:17 P.P. A.: OOC he’s probably not going to make it seeing how his player is gone and this is a good time to kill him off for good but our characters still have hope!

2:18 Doc: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

2:18 Ken (GM): 😉

Syviis Adjeon looks like she’s about to protest, but stops herself. “Then we must hope we can return with time to spare when the whole of this land is not at our throats…”

2:18 Suðri Skornbrekker: “His damn penchant for touching damned things.”

2:20 Gray: “He bravely ran risked and faced horrors we couldn’t understand.” He says with a nod to  Suðri.

2:20 Ken (GM): [this is starting to sound like a round robin sermon]

Suðri Skornbrekker hangs his shoulders. He is unhappy—but had already grappled with the thought that Falkirk might be lost to them when he would not wake up from his magic coma. Now, however, he is only slipping further away, and with him any hope of his recovery.

2:21 Syviis Adjeon: “Have hope,” with a smile “Perhaps disposing the evil of this land will free him.”

Suðri Skornbrekker nods. “If we keep slaying mindflayers at this rate, yea.”

2:22 Roderick: “I fear we’ll be at it a while. There’s no shortage of evil here.”

2:23 Syviis Adjeon: to herself in elvish, nearly under her breath [And if not, I’m certain he’ll haunt me as I study how to save the next poor soul from such evil magic…I welcome it.] Syviis Adjeon looks to the cauldrons and tubes

Gray nods. “We won’t save him standing here in sarrow. Search the room. Let’s see if there is anything we can learn or use here.”

2:23 Bomrek: “Even if he’s lost, this is no place for mourning.” Bomrek says, gripping the table and looking down at it. “Tears are for the pub, the field is for stoicism.. That sounds better in Dwarvish, but it’s still true enough in the Common tongue.”

2:24 Gray: “Aye, Bomrek. We’ve work to do.”

2:24 Syviis Adjeon: “Let’s give this lair one last search. Maybe we can find clues or tools for our next battle.” Syviis Adjeon swallows back disgust.

2:24 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Aye.” The dwarf regains his posture, and picks up his many weapons. “Speaking of slaying evil—we did a lot of that, Bomrek. Those bastards were cast out for good reason. We were fighting more of them earlier—they were being lorded by an ogre, and ate their own kind. One of them struck down, and they simply stripped and cooked him. Disgusting traitors, the lot of them.”

2:25 Syviis Adjeon: “And slay anything still…living…in those coffins. The Illithids do not breed like creatures of the world.”

2:25 Bomrek: “Oh? And how did they f- An OGRE!? Lording over Dwarves?” he looks more surprised than anything.

2:25 Syviis Adjeon: “Perhaps, at least, we can make Falkirk comfortable on the bed here.”

2:25 Gray: “I’ve seen to that, Syviis.” He says of killing the things in the coffins. He puts Falkirk’s still, cold form in the mage’s bed.

2:26 Ken (GM): [whump: what are we gonna do on the bed, Syviis-kun?]

fd7.png

2:26 Syviis Adjeon: :3

2:26 Bomrek: Bomrek narrows an eye and looks at Syviis. “What do you mean they do not breed like creatures of this world?”

2:26 Syviis Adjeon: to Bomrek “Anyone in those coffins were either food…or the next generation. I don’t care to know which is which.”

2:26 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Well, not any more. Gray made short work of it, and we slaughtered the lot of them—and another mindflayer too.”

Suðri Skornbrekker hears this.

Suðri Skornbrekker gets his bardiche.

2:27  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): Gray massacred the lot of them. Each one is now a stone bin full of gibs

Suðri Skornbrekker wordlessly goes to open the nearest coffin, prepared to make short work of the brood inside.

2:27 P.P. A.: oh

nvm

2:27  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): Gray beat ya to it

2:27 P.P. A.: retcon! didn’t know Gray already did

Gray searches the lab.

2:28 Bomrek: (you find a collar that says “Bud”, fleas, and mange)

2:28  (To Gray): tons of magical bullshit. Occasionally stuff you recognize. Small bowls of golden dust, silver shards, other precious small stones and metals.

Roderick looks around at notes and experiments

2:29 Suðri Skornbrekker: “By the way Bomrek, one of them lobbed a grenade at us with something that looked like a crippled musket.” He points to the reverse-engineered one on the table. “They based it on this one I’m sure, but here’s hope they didn’t spread the word beyond this fortress.”

2:29  (To Gray): The big tanks reeks of bloodwine residue to you, but it doesn’t look active. The creatures in the brine…are not alive. The big burning pot was bloodwine, but is burning lower now. Into something sludgey and black

2:29 Suðri Skornbrekker: “They also mine some magic red powder in the caves here which they use for their contraptions. …well, mined. Freed all their slaves we did, and killed their masters.” A smile returns to his face. “Heh, good thing you weren’t there when we led them out of the fort.”

2:30  (To Gray): You notice the big blue pools are not still. There are…small tadpoles in them. about the size of your thumb. Little things, but scores of them in the bottom of the water

2:31  (To Roderick): Its all written in some odd language, but the formulae are consistent at least. the flayer was a tinkerer of magic, and that is universally understood. His work was…weird but understandable

2:31 Bomrek: Bomrek raises a skeptical eyebrow “And why’s that?”

2:31 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Bunch of bleating, stinking beastmen. It was terrible.”

2:32  (To Roderick): Tinkering with the gun looks like some kind of red dust-powered weapon. The specifics are illegible. The one table is an alchemists basics, most reagents precious metals, heavy metals, and other pure extractions

2:32 Gray: “These tanks hold horrors.. Spawn, seeds of those flayers?” He points to the blue tanks.

Bomrek looks down at the butchered musket. “They use magic to lob the grenades, then?” He runs his fingers down the barrel etchings. “Stupid.” he says softly, clearly in some thought.

2:32  (To Roderick): the still is…bloodwine? The vats with creatures…who knows.

2:33 Bomrek: Are they tanks like in the modern lab sense, or like, water tank style tanks.

2:33  (To Roderick): the big blue thing to the right has magic power in it you feel, but not actively. It might be some sort of storage device. There are runes of scribing. Maybe some kind of arcane library?

2:34 Ken (GM): [the big blue tanks are pools recessed in the floor. About six feet deep? level with the floor at least]

2:34 Bomrek: Bomrek walks over and takes a cautious peek down into them. Do I see anything?

Suðri Skornbrekker notices something “There are three sets of tableware here…”

2:35 Bomrek: (I’m imagining an exclamation point over your head like in metal gear)

Ken (GM) Little tadpole things, dark skinned, swimming about. Scores of them

2:36 Bomrek: I just noticed there are lab-looking tanks labeled “creatures”. Are there creatures floating alive in the tanks still?

Bomrek hops back “Oi, looks like they breed the squid things in here.”

Ken (GM) A large sack-shaped thing with eyestalks protruding from all sides, and a spider shaped thing, with no head, and a scorpionlike whiptail

2:37 Bomrek: “Elf, come here and zap them with your magic arrow”

2:37 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Good idea.”

2:38 Syviis Adjeon: walks over and draws an arrow “My pleasure.” Fires [do she need to roll?]

2:38 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Her arrows now make things explode with her arrows, too,” he notes to the dwarf, “I hope our gunsmiths make that possible soon.”

2:40 Ken (GM): [nah youre good fiss]

Ken (GM) With a sharp lightning crack, Syviis drops the power of the storm into the pools of water. Theres a splash, and then floating to the top come scores of little cooked fishlike bodies. They stink

2:41 Ken (GM): [two shots for two pools tho]

2:41 Syviis Adjeon: k

2:41 Gray: “I think I prefered our foes mindless beast. These ones think far too much”

Gray looks to the tables of bloodwine, alchemy and gunsmithing experiments with a frown.

Bomrek walks over to the tubes. He shoulders his rifle and takes aim at the most humanoid looking one. “These too then I suppose, aye?” and puts a shot in it’s head. [Does it pull a resident evil and jump out at me, or is it dead?]

Suðri Skornbrekker lets Bomrek do the shooting, poor guy hasn’t exercised his trigger finger in a while

2:44 Gray: “Don’t stand too close when it breaks” He suggests

2:46 Bomrek: Well, assuming nothing special happens, Bomrek puts another shot into the head of the next, and then pulls his two pistols and puts two rounds into the scorpion looking thing.

2:51 Ken (GM): hahaha

sorry was afk a sec

toddlers

Ken (GM) Bomrek’s shot slams through the delicate crystal tube. The lead plows through the thing inside and it slumps into a useless pile of meat in the sloshing leftovers

2:52 Joush M.: Welcome back

2:52 P.P. A.: \o/

Ceremorphosis-volo.png

Ken (GM) the things in the tubes die, or remain dead. The fluid pools, thickly, like syrup

Suðri Skornbrekker holds his ears, ringing from the shots and the shattering of glass.

Bomrek laughs. “Chunk’o lead solves most problems, aye.”

Ken (GM) the creatures, whatever they were, are now meat. the fluid pooling about them, littered with shards of the heavy leaded crystal

Gray shakes the concussion off and looks around a moment. “Anything else we could do here?”

2:57 Suðri Skornbrekker: “What’s this?” Suðri Skornbrekker walks over to what looks like a chest in the middle of a magic circle, but keeps a certain distance.

2:58 P.P. A.: it also has Chinese writing on it but he can’t read Chinese
alas

2:58 Syviis Adjeon: [Any luck from the elf’s powarz?]

Ken (GM) the box is a slab of metal, seemingly cut to shape. Strange unknown writing is etched onto it, along with odd geometric designs. It sits on the floor inside a circle painted in dried blood…with something green mixed in as well. More magic runes in the weird language appear here

3:00 Syviis Adjeon: “I suggest feeding it to the lava monsters below…but that’s not a professional recommendation.”

3:01 Ken (GM): [thaumatolgy from Rod or Syviis? The runes here are moonrunes, and the configuration is odd]

3:01 Syviis Adjeon: [she needs to be trained in Thaum, so far it’s all been hippy elf-feels.]

3:02 Ken (GM): [hippy elf feels like looser pants might save everyone from the hips]

3:02 Suðri Skornbrekker: “We should inspect everything here thoroughly. There are three cups/mugs on the table, three chairs—someone might come here and seek revenge for the two we killed.”

3:02 Ken (GM): paranoia intensifies

Gray walks closer, nodding as he stuides it and thinking to ask the Raven. “Do you know anything about this?”

3:03 Raven: she turns her head, looking at the box. “I know nothing of this. I do not read their language, but I can assure, anything they would keep locked in a forged metal box might be best left lost. Possibly in a deep pit” WAARK

Syviis Adjeon nods, content about her earlier ‘lava’ recommendation

3:05 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Fine with me.” He looks around the room, walks around the Illithid’s corpse to… whatever this is.

Suðri Skornbrekker looks at it, trying to make sense of it.

Ken (GM) the flaming pot of bloodwine seems to have finally guttered out. The remains are ill smelling black tarry…porridge

3:07 Bomrek: “We could try shooting the box. Doubt it’ll withstand a round from my double-barrel, and it might make us a hole to peek inside without touching it…Then again… “Bomrek scratches his chin through his beard “It may be containing some sort of ancient evil, so perhaps it’s best if we don’t.”

Gray shakes his head as if to clear it in the strange, dark room. “The symbols seem intended to either trap the box there, or keep it from being effected by outside forces right? I wish we knew more, but it might be best to leave it.

3:09  (To Roderick): Poke poke. Wanna tell them its some kind of library?

3:10  (To Syviis): You feel it has a tingle of power in it. Nothing like a trap or a weapon. More like, the feeling of vastness. The smell of old books

 3:11  (From Syviis Adjeon): she’s pretty anti-illithid…but…curiosity?

3:12  (To Fiss): Oh, you know it

3:12 Syviis Adjeon: (To GM) rolling 3d6(2+1+4)= 7

3:13 Syviis Adjeon: reluctantly “As much as I’d love to learn more on the destruction of the Mind Flayers…I would rather risk our time and my sanity saving Falkirk. Leave the chest alone.”

3:14  (To Fiss): The chest seems sketchy as fuck, but the thing I was describing is actually the big blue device in the top right of the room 😛

Suðri Skornbrekker nods.

3:14 Syviis Adjeon: “Same for the devices it was working with…”

Gray accepts the judgement and goes to collect Falkirk, heading to the teleporter but pausing. “Should we take the things from the gunsmithing table?”

Suðri Skornbrekker still trying to figure out what he is looking at

3:15 P.P. A.: [dm pls describe]

3:15 Bomrek: “Aye, aye, I’ll do it.” Bomrek walks over and sorts through it. If there are any notes and paperwork, he takes those, as well as anything that looks like it’s related to the musket’s R&D.

3:15 Syviis Adjeon: “I’ll leave that to your expertise, dear Dwarves. You’ll know more about what is useful than I.”

3:15  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): getting within arms reach, you feel a tingle from it on your skin

Suðri Skornbrekker steps back, a little startled.

Ken(GM) The big blue-green thing is some strange arcane device; a kind of squat tower of odd protruding rods of metal, carved of weird green and black stone. Atop it is a ball of blue glass, floating just above the peak of the tower

3:17 Suðri Skornbrekker: “I felt something. It is active, but whether it’s doing anything…”

3:18 Gray: “Far beyond my understanding, I’m afraid”

3:19 Syviis Adjeon: nods “I hate to think we’re leaving a portal or beacon to others active, but a bomb or a beacon I know not… and it certainly doesn’t seem to have the same level of power as the portals and keys.”

3:19  (To Roderick): You alive?

Bomrek walks up behind  Suðri , stuffing papers into his pack. “What am I looking at here exactly,  Suðri ?”

3:20 Suðri Skornbrekker: “The same thing I’m looking at. A magical thing of some sort.” Suðri Skornbrekker shrugs

images.png

3:22 Ken(GM): [fuckin wizard shit]

3:22 Bomrek: ^

3:22 P.P. A.: p.much

Gray ask the others. “Should we get out of here? The longer we delay the worse things will be. We should finish looking though the mines then get back to hunting for a way up to the citadel, and our goal.”

Suðri Skornbrekker nods, and turns his back on the strange, magic device. He gathers up, once again, his armaments; takes a last worried look at Falkirk; and steps on the portal.

3:24 Syviis Adjeon: [next campaign I’m going to play a wizard who is sick of wizarding shit] She gathers her things, and her emotions, and heads to the portal

3:25 P.P. A.: [“I cast a curse on all the wizards of the land that makes them forget what all their wizard shit does so they will know how that feels”]

3:25 Ken(GM): [hahah]
[why is my couch floating? Why am I floating? What the shit?]

3:26 Bomrek: (The LSD in Ken’s drink is finally kicking in)

3:27 Ken(GM): [assuming rod died at his desk here]

3:27 P.P. A.: I messaged him on Discord, no response yet

3:27 Syviis Adjeon: “Remind me, when this is over, to find tutelage with a wizard who is sick of this dung as well.”

3:27 Ken (GM): “Rod shambles over, disgusted at the whole affair, and the mess bomrek made on the floor”

3:28 Roderick: “Those wretched Beastmen were foul enough with out us butchering meat on the floor…”

3:28 Gray: “I’ll try to remember that” He offers, nodding to Syviis. “To the entryway?”

3:28 Bomrek: (Are we going to perform a seance)

3:29  (To Fiss): Thats your cue to fuck with the dwarf with wizard shit

Syviis Adjeon snaps her finger on the tip of her readied arrow, forming a spark that illuminates the area “Yep. Damn wizards…” tries not to grin too obviously

Bomrek’s just looking around, with a face that telegraphs a general “what in the fuck is going on” sort of feeling

3:31 Ken (GM): [and then the floor starts glowing]
[because syviis is doing magic shite]

Suðri Skornbrekker closes his eyes and hopes this is over soon, he hates this method of travel.

3:33 Gray: “Hopefully it works as it’s supposed to. I’ll never get used to these things” He says of the rune-marked dais.

3:33 Ken (GM): [syviis doing the thing?]

3:34 Syviis Adjeon: the thing is do-in

Ken (GM) The world bends. Your groups is standing in the lab, and the floor melts upwards, the ceiling downwards, and you feel your very self disappear for a moment…

…And then you are standing in the entrance way to the keep, the stench of horse meat on the air

Bomrek sniffs the air a few times. “Smells like summertime.”

3:36 Gray: “Damnation.. we can’t leave Falkirk here. It’s not safe” He says, frowning deeply.

3:37 Suðri Skornbrekker: “We should carry him and our stuff deeper into the fort, into an area we have cleared out already.”

3:39 Ken (GM): [whereabouts? the burned out rot room? The devil forge? the shrine full of corpses and bloodwine?]

3:39  (To Bomrek): your gold is right there where you left it…and your stuff

3:40 P.P. A.: there was that room between the hall and he staircase with the ruined furniture

3:40 Ken (GM): [right, the old guardroom]

Bomrek shoulders his Rifle and looks around, before walking over to his gear, rooting through his bags to make sure everything is there.

Gray checks Falkirks things. He hates to, but he studies them a moment, searching for a better medical kit.

Syviis Adjeon takes a moment to grab a few extra arrows

3:42 Ken (GM): [ there is a pack of surgeons tools and devices. As well as a jar with bloodroot squirming away in it :P]
[as well his spear is sitting there, resting among the heap of bags]

Rod seems quite interested with the spear, when he sees it, and he plucks it from the pile “Where did you get this?” He says, a touch of wonder on his voice

Gray shoulders Falkirk’s things and nods to  Suðri . “Let’s go get him to somewhere safer.. Ah.. I don’t remember.” He admits, looking to the spear in Roderick’s hands.

Suðri Skornbrekker strokes his beard trying to remember. “Was it the slavers’ den?”

3:47 Roderick: “Was it a temple? An old one?” he asks

3:48 Suðri Skornbrekker: “It was; like this one, of ancient Dwarven make; though there stood serpent statues.”

Gray nods in agreement. “I think so. I could not say for sure.”

Rod continues to stare at the spear in wonder. He draws his old magic blade and holds it up, side by side, the resemblance is uncanny. Same beaten metal work, same swirling patterns. Where the sword has leaves, the spear thorns, and vines, in a faint thin pattern. “I don’t think that it was always dedicated to the dark ones. Its likely older than them…”

Gray studies the patterns with a thoughtful frown. “More Fae work? What other mysteries have we overlooked?”

3:53 Syviis Adjeon: “I agree. There are many influences from lighter magics and times here. As much as I speak of my anger for this land, it is done not out of hatred, but sorrow for the beauty being fed upon”

Roderick tucks the spear into the crook of his arm “Please, I must take this with us. ”

3:55 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Given your sword’s own mind, Roderick, could the spear have whisked away Falkirk’s so—” He pauses and makes a confused face. “Wait, when did you pick your sword back up?”

3:55 Roderick: Rod looks down at the blade in his hand, and back to the dwarf “‘We…have an understanding of sorts”

Suðri Skornbrekker holds his head/helmet and sighs. “So just leaving it behind won’t work, eh?”

3:57 Roderick: “I’m afraid I have a higher purpose” He says with a smirk

Gray growls in frustration and nods, standing there beside and looking to the sword and spear. So many mysteries in this blighted land…

[hmm, right, so 4 already. Damn. Seems like a good enough plot point to leave on for the moment.]

3:58 Joush M.: Thanks for the story man, it was fun

3:58 Roderick: PPA, can you check on Doc for me? Make sure hes alive?

3:59 P.P. A.: gonna try and call him, in case he got CIA’d

3:59 Ken (GM): hah

3:59 P.P. A.: thanks for the session though

3:59 Ken (GM): I mean, i laugh but Adolph nearly got shot today too

np guys, always glad to host

3:59 P.P. A.: He was?

3:59 Bomrek: Na, just what sounded like my neighbor’s pocket pistol being shot twice in the span of 20 minutes.

4:00 P.P. A.: oh that

4:00 Ken (GM): I bet it was squirrels

4:00 Fiss: Slowest…zombie…attack….ever.

4:00 Ken (GM): big, goddamn squirrels

4:00 Bomrek: I wouldn’t trust 25 ACP against big squirrels.

4:01 Joush M.: .25 ACP: All of the liability of a full sized round, all of the power of cold loaded .22LR

4:01 Ken (GM): [I am trying not to worry that doc wandered off like the guy did in last nights game. Though, in his defense, at least that guy told me ‘this aint the game for me’]

4:02 P.P. A.: (nah, that’s not his style)

4:02 Ken (GM): joush can attest, it was a fucking exposition dump 😦

4:02 P.P. A.: (maybe he fell asleep, that happened during another campaign once)

4:02 Ken (GM): [hah, oh nooooo]

4:02 P.P. A.: (but had nothing to do with the campaign and more with his sleep schedule) well, when he gets back I’ll tell him what else happened

4:03 Ken (GM): whhyyyyy is that so common I can empathize? yeah, cool, Ill send him a roll20 note too. “the sword was rather cordial, and has some good points. You have subscribed to its newsletter”
so, we gonna get a Bomrek on the regular again?

4:05 P.P. A.: I sure hope so, I want our dynamic dwarf duo back

4:05 Ken (GM): “whats this wizard shit”
I dunno
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA

4:05 Joush M.: Hard to Dwarf Fortress with just one dwarf. I think that guy was just on the fence about being able to play at all and decied he couden’t take it Ken, not your fault

4:06 Fiss: Dwarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfs

4:06 Ken (GM): Man, he seemed kinda sketch too. During sesion 0 and the like?

4:07 Fiss: Oh, any XP this round? Or are you saving for the Ultimate Endtimes?

4:08 Ken (GM): yus, take your 4, I hauled your asses out of bed/into the internet for times, and they were merry

4:08 Bomrek: >last night’s game
huh, what happened?

4:08 Ken (GM): oh, seperate group. Stargate 1888
also on roll20, but Joush is the only cross-player
He’s a little french girl this time around
SHE GOT A KNOIFE

4:09 Joush M.: I’m playing the anti-Gray

4:09 Bomrek: >stargate 1888
Hook me up fam

4:09 Joush M.: Small, friendly, capable of complicated math

4:09 Fiss: lol

4:09 Bomrek: Any room in that game?

4:09 Joush M.: Well, we did have a guy flake

4:09 Bomrek: My first thought for character just now was the pith-helmet wearing hunter from Jumanji

4:10 Ken (GM): so, a victorian big game hunter, with a giant gun, and a pithy accent

4:10 Bomrek: Sounds a lot like Bomrek, kind of. Might not go with that though.

4:11 Ken (GM): hah, better question, can you make 8-12pm, friday nights on the regular?

4:11 Bomrek: Anyway I’ve got a game of overwatch to catch with some amigos, I’ll be back in… some number of hours.
Yup, oughta be able to.

4:11 Fiss: o/ lotsofun folks!

4:11 Ken (GM): well, fuck, hit me up fam, we’ll see what we can do for ya. Good to have you back
o7

4:11 Fiss: Ken: Doing up Magical Talent to 2. You cool?

4:12 Ken (GM): ooer! yeah!

[FINALLY]

[JUST

[JUST DO IT

4:12 Bomrek: If you’ve got a link, throw it at me in Skype. Also if there’s any info you need to tell me regarding the game, send it there in large chunks rather than many individual messages, since it’ll mess up my game.

4:12 Ken (GM): [YOU FUCK]

4:12 Bomrek: Alright, adios amigos’

4:12 Fiss: Later, folks!

4:12 P.P. A.: Bye all o/
