Grimwyrd: Death Threats

Ken (GM) WHERE LAST WE LEFT OUR VALIANT HEROES…

DEEP IN THE DARK LAND OF GORGOTH, THE PARTY HAS PLUNGED ALONG AN UNGUARDED CART PATH, STRIKING FOR THE LONG LOST WIZARDS TOWER, DAYS AWAY

We find them now, after sheltering from a terrible storm, near the edge of a raging river. The torrents of water crash loudly in clear sunlight, the cool winds brushing the bare treetops around them. Ahead, a looming guardhouse on the bridge crossing the deluge; in front, a strange brazier of magical fire has been extinguished, but what eldritch magic lies within the squat keep itself?

12:22 Ken (GM): [Gray and Syviis had scouted ahead, and were on the cusp of investigating the guardhouse. The rest of you were up the road a ways, watching intently with guns on the arm. Yes?]

12:23 P.P. A.: As we always do

12:23 Fiss: Yus

12:23 P.P. A.: well except Falkirk, he’s probably pondering evil things as he always does

12:24 Ken (GM): haha, casually glancing through the necronomicon, not paying any attention

Gray stands beside the door of the guardhouse, blade and shield ready as the grim giant trusts the elven woman to watch for danger from her place. He spares a glance to the illusion fire, now gone after the impact of Syviis’s arrow.

12:24 Gandalf G.: pondering misleading selling practices

12:24 Joush M.: He’s just over there, groping his seeing stones, sexting deamons.

demon_tribe_by_njay-d49imoh.jpg

Suðri Skornbrekker slowly moves his horse forward, though not enough to leave the relative cover of the barren branches. He saw the flame extinguish and senses that something is wrong—and if something bursts out of that tower, he wants to be able to engage it.

12:26 P.P. A.: a/s/p? [p is for plane]

12:27 Gandalf G.: looking for a dude to come and charge crystals with me

12:28  (To Falkirk): OH GOD NO NOT THE JACKING CRYSTALS

12:28  (From Gandalf G.): It’s not gay its magic

12:28 Ken (GM): Syviis, ready? Bomrek has swigged some whisky and cocked his gun hammers

12:29 Syviis Adjeon: Readies herself, fresh arrow cocked and aiming at the tower’s entrance

12:29 Ken (GM): kk Gray, I believe you had the honors

Suðri Skornbrekker is also aiming at the tower entrance, feels sorry for his horse in advance

Gray waits a moment longer to see if anyone will come to them before reaching out to open the doorway, calling inside in a booming a rough voice. “Come out. We would speak with you.”

Ken (GM) From within the structure, over the howling rush of the wind, you hear a deep ruddy female voice

12:33 The Woman: “What mortals disturb my watch? ….Who daressss disturb my ssslumber?”

Ken (GM) Within, you hear a clattering of wood, a rasp of metal on metal

Gray is surprised to hear words he understands, considering a moment how to reply before he gives the name he’s known as. “Gray, scorned of the Militia of Grayhold. We aim to pass by and have no reason to fight you. You watch over a bridge we will use. I would know if you are our foe before we pass.”

12:35 Fiss: Diplomatic +1!

12:37 The Woman: “ALL WHO TRESSPASS HERE ARE MY FOES!” The voice screeches, loud even through the door and over the wind.

Perception check, Gray and Syviis!

12:37 Gray: rolling 3d6 vs 14 (night vision 5, discriminatory smell)

(4+5+6)=15

12:38 P.P. A.: “normies get off my bridge reeeee”

12:38 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6  vs PER+1

9 v 13

12:39 Ken (GM): Luckily, you both are warned by your senses before the immediate danger resolves! The door bulges, and crackling cinders appear across it in spider webs of power; Gray smells the burning wood the moment it starts to bulge. Syviis’ magic alerts her as a great deal of power is called together

As the door explodes outward, you may both react!

maxresdefault.jpg

12:40 Syviis Adjeon: holds her aim until a target presents itself

12:40 Ken (GM): kk, Gray?

Gray holds his shield up and braces himself, stepping back (if he has to) in order to escape the blast and calling out. “Come then! We will decide this in combat!”

12:41 Ken (GM): Initiative then! everyone!

12:41 Suðri Skornbrekker:

rolling 1d6+5

11

12:41 Gandalf G.: 9.75 plus and minus modifiers

Ken (GM) Gray’s shield at the ready turns and deflects shards of the door as it explodes across the roadway!

12:42 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 1d6 (2)

12:42 Syviis Adjeon: Initiative: 8.25

12:43 Ken (GM): bomrek is…slow

12:43 Gray: rolling 1d6+6+2 (8) = 12

12:43 Joush M.: 6 basic speed, 2 combat reflexes?

12:44 Ken (GM): just 1 from CR; this was straight up ambush/surprise. so 11?

12:44 Joush M.: Yep!

12:44 Ken (GM): k, oddly enough, Skornbrekker has the better DX than gray, so he tiebreakers the top slot

hokay! To SUÐRI !

Suðri Skornbrekker realises shit is going down, figures that the enemy didn’t blow themselves up but it’s more “magic shenanigans”

12:46 Ken (GM): lol

12:46 P.P. A.: How far does my hrose move?

12:46 Ken (GM): 5 with load, I believe

Suðri Skornbrekker rides closer to the action!

12:47 Ken (GM): [these horses are gonna get PTSD]

12:47 Joush M.: could go to 10 next round with Enhanced Move, but then you are in Horse Overdrive

12:47 Ken (GM): GRAY! youre up!

12:47 P.P. A.: then I can charge the tower like Don Quixote charges windmills

12:47 Fiss: The horses will only get PTSD if they try firing an AR-15

12:48 Joush M.: Gray will Wait to grab anything that comes out of the tower

12:48 Fiss: Or if they get criticism on Tumblr

12:48 Ken (GM): with a sword and shield in hand?

12:48 Joush M.: He can drop the sword to grapple one handed if it comes up, right?

12:49 Ken (GM): ah, I suppose so, good point; Very well! A wait action!

12:49 Joush M.: Or there’s a pretty brutal trick if the opposing force is SM 0 or less…

12:49 Ken (GM): FALKIRKU! FUCKING MAGIC N SHIT YO

12:49 Gandalf G.: ayy

Falkirk hops off his horse

12:49 Falkirk: and that’s the turn

12:50 Ken (GM): lulz “I aint no dragoon; I aint got time for this shit”

12:50 P.P. A.: One day after a bunch of Beastmen and a witch were killed in the slaver shooting, I traveled to Dwarfland to better understand the firepower of dwarven-style weapons and, hopefully, explain their appeal to ale lovers.

12:50 Ken (GM): Bomrek! Cusses, takes aim. “DAMN ALL YOU MAGIC FUCKS [string of dwarven epithets]”

SYVIIS!

12:51 Syviis Adjeon: Moving up for a direct line to fire

(assuming the fire isn’t still active)

or not reaching her

12:52 Ken (GM): hah, nah thats cool

Ken (GM) the smoke billows in a plume, and is whisked away by the wind. Slithering out of the hut is a massive snake-bodied woman. She has 8 arms and each holds a wicked looking brass weapon; sickles, swords, maces and hooked hammers. He wild hair flows in the wind as she comes out of the building cackling389c22a7e44989388cab9ac2c5d5b9e8.jpg

12:54 Joush M.: Damn. Drop the wait action rather then carry it out? Grappling that is a Bad Idea

12:54 Falkirk: caaaant~ that’s the fun part of a wait action

12:55 Ken (GM): Very good Gray, you decide not to grapple the giant bitch

12:55 Falkirk: aww 😦

12:55 P.P. A.: >sickles […] and […] hammers

12:55 Falkirk: communist snakes

12:55 P.P. A.: This is truly Elf Chernobyl

12:56 Fiss: In Soviet Russia, snake whack you!

Gray looks up to the foe, the towering daemon or mutant serpent woman making his plan to grab the spellcaster fall apart. “What are you?!”

12:56 Ken (GM): so! SUÐRI ! youre up

Suðri Skornbrekker now wishes he had kept some distance.

Suðri Skornbrekker dismounts his horse

12:56 P.P. A.: ride check to see if I can do it and not waste my whole turn?

12:56 Ken (GM): the horse wishes so too

12:57 Ken (GM): Riding check to do it with your hands full of gun

12:57 Suðri Skornbrekker: 10v11

12:57 P.P. A.: wew

12:57 Ken (GM): you swing over your leg and land on both feet!

GRAY!

12:58 P.P. A.: The question remains: is she hot?

12:59 Ken (GM): [liek, so hawt]

12:59 Joush M.: I think they are exothermic

12:59 Fiss: Snake chicks are always hot…at least according to /d/

12:59 P.P. A.: I liked monster girls before MGQ and that manga made it cool

1:00 Fiss: Mah ninja…

1:00 Ken (GM): GRAY! do the thing! FYI, it is +1 SM to hit her, due to shape/size

Gray strikes at the towering marilith with his sword, snarling!

1:01 Falkirk: the second I saw the word snake I knew where this was going

1:01 Gray: rolling 3d6 vs 15 to resist berserk

(5+4+1)=10

1:01 Falkirk: oy vey

1:02 Gray: rolling 3d6 to hit snake woman with -4 Deceptive attack (-2 defense) for 13 total

(5+3+6)=14

Gray tries to hurry a blow past the flashing steel of her defenses, but fails, driven back.

1:03 Ken (GM): boo! by 1 (why is it always 1?)

Ken (GM) She grins at Gray and his flourish, her snake-tongue flicking out in his direction. Her eyes widen and she smiles more; She’s EXCITED

1:04 Ken (GM): FALKIRK!

Falkirk starts jogging towards the altercation, already starting to wheeze

1:05 Ken (GM): hahah

BOMREK! Will take his shot, -6 distance, +5 long aim, +2 size, -1 alcohol so vs 15 to “vitals” shot! (he sees she has a scaly hide but this should work, maybe)

rolling 3d6 (6+5+6) 17Firing-a-Bess-2.jpg

FUCK lol

1:08 Falkirk: that’s a misfire

woopwoop

1:08 Joush M.: Don’t explode, mister dwarf!

1:09 Ken (GM): hes at +1 on misfire for his heavy black powder loads too.;..

rolling 3d6 + 1 (2+2+2)+1= 7

1:09 Falkirk: [“so while you were gone, your gun exploded and you died”]

Suðri Skornbrekker doesn’t turn around as his eyes are fixated on the enemy, but he hears the misfire. “That didn’t sound healthy.”

Bomrek’s gun has a disappointing “phuttt” noise, and belches a cloud of ineffectual smoke

1:10 Ken (GM): [dwarven cussing intensifies]

SYVIIS

1:10 Syviis Adjeon: She’ll power up her arrow and loose it at the snake’s Vitals, hoping to at least wound/slow it enough for her party to get into the mix.

With aiming and all the modifiers, target is a solid 17

rolling 3d6(6+6+3)=15

1:10 Ken (GM): yay!

1:11 Syviis Adjeon: Do snik move away in time?

1:11 Ken (GM): rolling 3d6(5+1+6)=  12 dodge

snik tries dodge and fails!

1:11 Falkirk: snake

snake!?

SNAAAAAAAAAKE

1:11 Ken (GM): SNAAAAAAAAAKE

1:11 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 1d6 + 1 +4d6 (1)+1+(1+1+5+3) =12

Arrow Damage:2 imp

Burning/Lightning Damage:10 burn

Damn…still

Syviis Adjeon draws her bow back, eyes aglow with a sudden crackle of lightning. Power rushes down from her arms and bow into the arrow just as she looses it at the Maralith’s heart.

Ken (GM) the arrow flies true, but explodes as it strikes her scaly hide!

1:13 Syviis Adjeon: curses out loud and draws a fresh arrow if she can

1:13 Ken (GM): [arrow failed to penetrate DR! burning damage hits the skin and burned her a bit tho! DR4 mang, so 6 burning wounds to torso after all is said n done]

HER TURN 😀

1:14 P.P. A.: oh boy

Ken (GM) Distracted from Gray by the burning arrow, she turn her attention to the elf, and rushes her!

1:14 Ken (GM): Fiss, many pointy things coming at you! She slithers up and swings several arms simultaneously; care to dodge at -3?

1:15 Syviis Adjeon: I’d like to see if I can acrobatically + dive-dodge

1:15 Joush M.: Might want to retreat too

1:15 Ken (GM): diving = retreat; roll vs acrobatics for +2/-2!

1:15 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(1+5+2)=8 Acrobatics v 11

1:15 Ken (GM): yay! +2

1:16 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(1+1+4)=6

So with the dive-dodge, Dodge is 9

Woo!

1:16 Ken (GM): yay!

pick a hex, and youre prone, but not impaled 4 times over with a multi-strike

Ken (GM) Syviis dives with a tumble and narrowly escapes, the marilith hisses in exultation and screams in her voice “GET BACK HERE YOU BITCH!”

1:17 Ken (GM): SKORNBREKKER!

1:17 Falkirk: wow rudeWow+rude+_88bdfee73d4ff78b2a20143e1ed1be04.jpg

1:18 Syviis Adjeon:[ looks up from her Super-Hero Landing No…]

1:18 P.P. A.: Hm, what would the distance modifier here be

1:19 Ken (GM): 9 yds, so -4. And +1 SM

1:20 P.P. A.: so 14-4+1… not good

1:20 Ken (GM): aiiiiim

Suðri Skornbrekker curses in Dwarven and rams his bardiche into the ground, resting his musket on it to aim at the enemy

1:20 Ken (GM): Aim!

Gray steps up behind the towering snake-woman. “I’m your opponent!” He snarls, driving at her to distract her from the elf and others.

1:21 Ken (GM): Valiant!

1:22 Gray: rolling 3d6 with deceptive (-2 for -1 defense), +1 SM for total 15

(1+3+6)=10

1:22 Joush M.: Defend. Unless she dosn’t see it comeing

1:22 Falkirk: “Seems a little redundant considering everyone’s gunning for her at once, no?”

1:22 Ken (GM): Its at her side hex, so she attempts an awkward sword parry at -2, vs 11

rolling 3d6(6+4+4)= 14 sword parry

booo

14 vs 11, your swing hits home

1:23 Gray: rolling 3d6+2 for CUT damage (torso) (2+2+3)+2 = 9 Cut

1:24 Ken (GM): year! 5 gets though, becomes 7 wounds!

The Marilith turns her sword too late, and Gray’s sword bites deep; she screeches in pain!

1:25 Ken (GM): FALKIRK!

1:25 Falkirk: what’s the range pen from here

1:25 Ken (GM): -5!

1:26 Falkirk: hm I’ll make an AOO(determined) , using my half movement speed, moving [there]

and hurl some acid her way

1:26 Ken (GM): ah, kk

1:27 Falkirk: any relevant modifiers to the situation?

1:27 Ken (GM): her SM+1, so net you are at -2?

and shes defending from a side hex

1:28 Falkirk: 13v13 vs innate attack

phew

1:28 Ken (GM): She attempts a dodge at 8

Rolling 3d6 (4+4+3)= 11 dodge

bam, she’s splashed with acid across her scaly hide!

Falkirk shouts in an arcane tongue as he launches a jet of sickly yellow bile downrange

1:29 Falkirk: [3] damage!

Ken (GM) hiss hiss bubble bubble, her scales crack and melt under the acidic spray

Ken (GM) she screeches even angrier than before!

1:29 Falkirk: it’s 1DR loss to every 5 damage, so maybe on the cyclic follow up we can get rid of that pesky DR

1:30 Ken (GM): yay!

Bomrek aims his next shot, encouraging his horse forward a step

SYVIIS! you is prone

1:32 Syviis Adjeon: scrambles to kneeling, bow at the ready but unable to get a shot off without completely screwing herself over

1:32 Ken (GM): righto [this tool needs better icons for prone/kneeling postures :P]

facing her though, right fiss?

1:33 Fiss:  yes

1:33 Ken (GM): HER TURN

She turns, hatred in her eyes, her weapons a flurry

Fiss! She swings several weapons at you!

Pick comes at ya, wat do? rolling 3d6

1:35 Syviis Adjeon: Mmm can she dodge again or is she boned?

1:36 Ken (GM): you can dodge repeatedly, you’re just in the sucky -2 position right now

1:36 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(5+6+1)=12 vs 7 dodge

neewwwp

1:36 Ken (GM): a slash on the torso!

rolling 3d6 + -2(4+4+2)+-2= 8 cutting!

1:37 Syviis Adjeon: target is 10 with Fit

rolling 3d6(3+5+2)= 10

1:38 Ken (GM): yay! she cuts to the bone across your chest, but your still alive and up!

and then the mace comes at you!

1:38 Syviis Adjeon: o_o

1:38 Ken (GM): how you gonna defend?

1:38 P.P. A.: [man,screw these rolls]

1:38 Syviis Adjeon: Parry? 😛

1:39 Falkirk: “Pressure! Keep pressure on it”

Falkirk jogs with a little more vigor

1:39 Joush M.: I’m out of reach for a sacrificial block, I think…Unless you want to be generous about that

1:39 Ken (GM): kay, call it 9 parry with the bow? considering all penalties/posture

1:39 Syviis Adjeon: I’mma just going to roll the parry

rolling 3d6(6+6+1)= 13

1:39 Ken (GM): ooooh

1:39 Syviis Adjeon: newwwop

1:43 P.P. A.: Normal Damage Crit strikes again

1:43 Falkirk: no its yay

1:48 Ken (GM): ah, kk so 4 more wounds, all said 8/20 hp

yaaaaaay

1:49 Falkirk: just shy of reeling

The horses, spooked by the hideous screeching, buck for the woods

Gray staggers back, blood running from the pick wound that slipped past chain and surcoat, ribs cracked by the brutal impact of the mace.

Bomrek attempts to steady his horse(riding)

1:49 Ken (GM): rolling 3d6(1+4+1)= 6

and does very well!

Ken (GM) the unattended horses plunge into the barren woods, in several directions

1:50 Ken (GM): SKORNBREKKER!

Suðri Skornbrekker fires immediately, aiming at the chest of the monster.

1:52 Suðri Skornbrekker: rolling 4d6+2

rolling 4d6+2 pi++ (5+6+3+1)+2= 17 pi++

1:52 Ken (GM): fuuuuuck

Ken (GM) The lead shot cracks like thunder and slams into her gut with force enough to throw a chunk out of her hide! Exposed flesh sprays off in all directions

The Marilith slumps, drops her weapons, surprised at the blow. She looks at the wound with incredulity and she melts into black and red ichor, boiling away like some strange potted brew…

1:54 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Eat that, you wretched bitch!”

Suðri Skornbrekker is furious, having seen the monster wreak havoc on two of his comrades, and not having pulled the trigger until it was too late to stop her rampage.

1:55 Falkirk: “Aye, that’ll do it. How’s the elf looking?”

Suðri Skornbrekker starts running towards them as soon as combat time is over

Bomrek cusses, and starts rampaging after horses, into the woods

Gray shakes off the impact and staggers to the elf, kneeling to examine the wounded woman.

1:57 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Get back here, damn horse!”, Suthri shouts angrily into the woods as he tears his bardiche from the ground and heads for Grey and Syviis, who are more important than the dumb animal.

Gray steps around the sick pool of melting marilith that stains the cursed ground red, his own wounds ignored, even though he’s going to be healing from this for hours. [Assuming the pick and mace weren’t silver, that is]

1:57  (GM To Gray): Not silver, in fact some odd brassy-bronze like make, similar to your ogre blade

1:57 Falkirk: combat time over?

1:57 Ken (GM): yes! wat do Falkirk?

Falkirk jogs over and crouches next to the elf, assessing the damages

1:58 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Can we carry her away from whatever that filth is?”

1:58 Syviis Adjeon: is suffering from a bloody chest wound and a beaten-in everything. Whole, but certainly not getting up on her own [-4hp, no major wounds]

1:58 Falkirk: 16v13 [diagnosis] to notice anything not immediately obvious

welp

1:58 P.P. A.: Falkirk: “You might be hurt.”

1:58 Ken (GM): maybe

1:59 Falkirk: “Let’s get her patched up then. How are you doing, Beastie?”

Falkirk places a hand on each of her shoulders and begins a quiet incantation

1:59 Falkirk: 4 seconds for +2, 2FP to heal 4HP

11v15

2:00 Ken (GM): yaaay

Suðri Skornbrekker reloads his musket in the meantime.

Ken (GM) Healing light flows into the wounds; the gash closes its edges, and Syviis’ battered form stirs awake

Syviis Adjeon gasps as her chest and bones stitch together and she clings to the very bottom of consciousness… “Thank you…” she whispers in plain common, then closes her eyes and breathes quietly, trying to marshal her strength.

Gray shakes his head hard. “Fine. Treat the elf.” He commands harshly, then a moment later apologizes. “I’m in pain. Ashamed I failed to protect the others. Thank you for your aid, Physician.”

2:03  (To Fiss): dramatic enough timing for ya, buying off the Vow?

2:04  (From Fiss): Figures this is a good enough time to buy off the 10 pts. 😛 I have 8 now, so assuming 12 ish after this, I’ll do it this session

Falkirk gives her a firm pat on the shoulder.  “Red meat and rest, you’ll be right as rain.”

2:04 Suðri Skornbrekker: “I should have fired earlier,” Suðri curses under his beard, along with a handful of dwarven expletives.

Gray nods, already hungry as his healing factor knits bone and closes the bleeding wounds, reaching down to help move the elf away from the vicious mess, then stepping in. Collecting the weapons, tossing them away from the acid. “Beastmen tools… the same metal as my sword. Fine. Strong.”

2:04 Ken (GM): [dwarven guilt intensifies]

Suðri Skornbrekker takes a glance at Gray magically healing.

Falkirk leans on his spear and stands.

2:05 Falkirk: “Now for the interesting part.”

2:05 Ken (GM): [the pick should still be stuck in him, until he pries it loose fyi]

Suðri Skornbrekker raises an eyebrow but he’s seen enough strange things in these wicked lands, at least that one is a good thing.

Falkirk rummages and produces a glass vial, leaning over to scoop a sample from the puddle.

Gray pauses and grips the pick, pulling it free. It deals more damage that way, but the doctor is busy. He snarls in animal pain, then tosses the pick aside and goes back to what he was doing.

IEsObpB.jpg

2:06 Ken (GM): yarp. how brutal. Call it 2 more damage, but yeah

Suðri Skornbrekker winces slightly at the sight.

Suðri Skornbrekker is done loading his weapon and looks around to see if Bomrek needs help catching the horses.

2:08  (To Falkirk): The slime is strikingly similar to the bloodroot ichor…or the plague ichor. Behaves slightly different. Thicker, maybe ectoplasmic elements? All signs point towards her being a summons of some kind. A called demon, bound to this place somehow.

Falkirk holds the vial to the light, shaking it and carefully examining the contents, apparently completely devoid of awareness of the surrounding world all of a sudden. “Well what do you know…”

2:08 Ken (GM): [dwarven cussing from Bomrek echoes from the woods “get back here you undercooked steak!”]

Suðri Skornbrekker does not follow him immediately, but first clutches his bardiche and approaches the tower.

Suðri Skornbrekker prepares to poke anything that pokes out from behind the doorway.

Gray is pretty fucking Dethlok, when you get right down to it. He goes to the slender elven woman, taking off his cloak and covering her with it to keep her out of the rain. “I’ll check the tower. See if we can rest there while she recovers.”

Ken (GM) the tower is rough and bare inside; the floor is a brilliant golden hue, etched with shining runes that sparkle with purple power

2:11 Joush M.: Maybe we don’t go rest in the evil summoning circle

2:11 P.P. A.: 😛

2:11 Ken (GM): 😛

Suðri Skornbrekker jabs with the point end of his bardiche before sticking his head in

Suðri Skornbrekker pulls his head back out.

2:12 Suðri Skornbrekker: “We should leave this to Falkirk,” he says, shoulders his weapon, and heads after Bomrek.

2:12 Ken (GM): lol

so!

the dwarves round up the horses; Bomrek explains with a slight hiccup that he was worried the gold would wander off …”did Falkirk get the elf fixed up then?”

2:15 Suðri Skornbrekker: “She’s breathing again and you can’t see her broken ribs sticking out any more; that’s a big step up already.” He shakes his head. “Never should have brought her; or should have let her play vanguard.”

Gray looks into the tower a moment and nods. “She barely fit inside there.. is this some eldritch path she took to reach us?”

2:14 Falkirk: “What we just fought, mister beast, was a summoned demon.”

2:15 Falkirk: “Somehow I doubt that the forces of the south bear much care for quality of life for their summoned weapons.”

2:15  (From Falkirk): I just disrupt the circle and that stops it working, right?”

2:16  (To Fiss): Dwarf smack talk! “Never should have brought her”?

2:16  (From Fiss): yeah, she’ll remember that. 😛

Gray mutters some prayer as he looks to the deamon, then inclines his head to Falkirk. “Do we smash those runes? Do we break that circle?”

Falkirk strolls up to the tower, peeking inside

2:16  (To Falkirk): Equal and opposing reactions; remember breaking the elemental binding circle? The power has to go somewhere, and this is still running. You notice on close inspection its not running very well, lots of small discharges. it seems damaged now already, likely form Syviis’ hitting the flame earlier.

2:17 Falkirk: “You might want to stand back.”

Falkirk leaves the door open, steps backwards and rolls up his sleeves

2:17 Ken (GM): lol steps back ten yards

2:17 Falkirk: I didnt specify how many steps 😀

Gray then speaks to Suðri. “I think we find shelter. Get rest, recover. She fights well and was unlucky. I would prefer she was not in combat too, but… That’s her choice. I could not complete this mission without hazarding the health of people that seem fragile to me.” He moves back, carrying the elf back with him

2:19  (To Falkirk): So whats your master plan here?

2:20  (From Falkirk): Just gonna hork some acid through the door and take cover

2:20 Ken (GM): hahahah

Falkirk brings a hand above his head and begins reciting a slow incantation

2:20 Falkirk: gonna need to roll to hit?

2:21 Ken (GM): no, but gimme 3d6 blind, please

2:21 Falkirk: blind?

2:21 Ken (GM): ‘for effect’

2:21 Falkirk: 8

Ken (GM) Falkirk collects a bilious assault, and sprays the magical runes on the floor; theres a hiss and crackle as the stone buckles from the corrosion. Then the runes simply flicker and wink out…

…the glow is gone, and the etchings in the stone are just that again; simple scratches in stoneb6c13c3bb2d1fb6f9e8df5dadb9c9ace.jpg

2:23  (To Falkirk): You feel the magic in the air is gone, completely discharged

Falkirk nods once, before walking up to join the others

2:23 Falkirk: “Not as dramatic as I might have liked, but I suppose this was the best result.”

Syviis opens her eyes and closes them again, a bit less on edge

Gray nods to the elderly wizard respectfully. The blood wet Beastman looking around. “Where can we hold up until our companion is ready to travel again?” He glances to the building. It’s unattractive, but it’s also the only he can remember seeing for a while. “We could just camp here. Close to water, these twisted trees might yield enough deadfall for a fire.”

2:25 Ken (GM): [fixer upper, needs a new door]

2:26 Falkirk: “I don’t see us finding anywhere else with a roof for a while. If we must rest, this is a good place.”

2:26 P.P. A.: So the “tower” only has one floor?

2:29 Joush M.: high ceilings then. We should go inside and look up, see if it used to have more floors/stairs to reach them

2:29 P.P. A.: Would also be useful to know if there are any windows higher up

Gray nods to Falkirk and turns to walk to the tower, careful with Syviis, setting her gently inside and out of the rain to rest while he looks around the tower suspiciously. He doesn’t trust the place.

2:31 Ken (GM): [Single floor, just the bare stone and high 15~ foot walls, vaulted ceiling with wood and shingles. and yes, high windows up by the ceiling, but barred. Drafty but ‘secure’] [also, its not raining anymore, but very courteous of ya]

2:32 Falkirk: “So, what’s the consensus? We’re setting up camp?”

Gray nods. “At least until the archer’s ready to travel again. I’ll scout the area and collect firewood.”

2:34 Bomrek : “Where do we shove these infernal horse-steaks then? tied up back in the trees?”

2:36 Falkirk: “Aye, but keep them close. We don’t know how much unfriendly traffic this road gets.”

2:36 Ken (GM): alllrighty! so the room is roughly cut and bare, but roomy enough for all of you at once. Firewood nearby is in easy supply;

GRAY, where would you put a fire?

SYVIIS, bedresting?

FALKIRK, plans?

2:37 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Bomrek, help me set set up some rudimentary defenses.”

Syviis Adjeon continues to rest, on the very cusp of not-being-able-to-do-anything-else.

2:38 Falkirk: I’ll just do the doctor gig

Suðri Skornbrekker wants to pile up some wood and dirt to make a simple, waist-high wall around the area [indicates on map] (like so, except avoiding the puddle of yuck)

Bomrek considers rigging the bridge to explode

2:38 P.P. A.: Gray goes and scouts around for supplies. He will build a fire inside the door, but not in the way.

2:39 Bomrek: “That seems mighty conspicuous though” Says bomrek, scratching his beard and swigging a bit more “Maybe we just build up right in front of the door with a defensible heap o timbers?”

2:39 Joush M.: Like there? It won’t make it that much warmer inside but should let them dry out and heat up some food while they drink booze.

Suðri Skornbrekker nods. Yeah, that works too.

2:40 Ken (GM): [yeah a small manageable fire will do wonders, even without a door]

Suðri Skornbrekker goes to gather and if necessary chop some wood.

2:40 Suðri Skornbrekker: Combat Engineering 11v12

2:41 Ken (GM): nice! between the two dwarves, a small ‘Palisade wall’ gets built with fallen timber and some earthworks

so, you’re all roughly safe, huddled out of the cold wind in the tower. The wind whistles past the high walls, but you’re secure with your fire and fortifications [resting here for awhile then? Overnight?]

Falkirk makes sure to keep the elf close to the warm flame, she’s had enough sanguine humours spilled for the melancholic winds to steal any more

2:44 Syviis Adjeon: Syviis is literally at the mercy of the party, she can’t really complain until she regains a HP or two. They can pack-mule her if they want, lol

2:44 Ken (GM): very good

2:44 Syviis Adjeon: And she’s proud enough not to complain if they do.

Gray stands guard, letting Falkirk see to tending to the wounded.

2:45 Ken (GM): Falkirk, you wanna treat her with physician care? or maybe more magic?

2:45 Falkirk: yeah roll it? 9v12 Physician

2:45 Joush M.: Gray wants to stay here until she’s ready to fight and travel. This place seems too dangerous to go ahead when they are down a person. He could be talked out of the plan though

2:46 Ken (GM): right! so success on first aid/physician is 1d-2 HP restored at least

2:47 Ken (GM): so 1d-2!

2:47 Falkirk: oh I didnt see the magic part you said

2:47 Ken (GM): [3] ayyy thats staggered/walking at least!

2:48 Syviis Adjeon: is resting much easier after the physician’s help to reset her rib(s)

Gray goes to collect food and a bottle of whisky from the supplies, returning to the group and offering the bottle to Suori first. Oats and bits of salted meat go into a pot with water on the fire, the porridge should be hardy and filling, at least.

Gray, other than that, stands watch at the door. Expecting to see some danger out in the wilds, or crossing the bridge.

Suðri Skornbrekker is maintaining the firearms and humming dwarven songs to himself when Gray approaches him. He reaches out to accept it, but withdraws his hand. “Nah, you deserve it more.”

2:50 Suðri Skornbrekker: “How is the wound healing?”

2:51  (To Falkirk): So, after some time spent in the building; casual inspection of the runes etc. The magic circle was a binding/summoning circle. The demon was bound here, tied to the brazier outside as part of a larger protection/warding. You don’t have a direct interaction with the triggers but it was likely part of the fire outside revealing Beastmen/not!Beastmen or something similar. All speculation of course without the auras.

Bomrek cleans and checks his gun, muttering angry all the while. He struggles with it for some time before prying out a jammed lead shot

Falkirk sits cross-legged after tending to the elf, examining the runes remaining in the floor with a frown.

Gray takes a long drink, then considers a moment, reaching down to run a hand across his midsection. He thumps the wound, groaning a bit, then nodding. “Bone’s are back in place and knitting. Hurts worst when they move, now it’s just a matter of time.”

2:53 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Pretty convenient.”

2:53 Ken (GM): after a bit, Bomrek has tossed an empty whisky bottle beside the firepit. He belches loudly and settles against the wall, snoring almost instantly. A conspicuous amount of alcohol

Syviis Adjeon sighs. “It was foolish of me not to maintain the advantage of range. I am glad more of her weapons didn’t strike you, though, Gray.”

2:54 Falkirk: “The beastie seems to mostly fix himself, I wouldn’t worry.”

Gray nods to the elven archer. “We make mistakes. We learn from them. You fought well and bravely, but yes… more distance next time. The monsters in this place are terribly fast.”

Syviis Adjeon closes her eyes and smiles

2:55 Syviis Adjeon: “Not fast enough, and now we know the kind of magic set against us. Next time they’ll need more than luck to bring us harm.”

2:58 Fiss: [ is “foolish optimism” an advantage? 😛 Or disadvantage?]

2:59 Ken (GM): [somewhere between oblivious and Odious personal habit on the disads]

Gray continues to recover from terrible wounds with unnatural speed. Wolfing down food, replacing lost blood, the energy used up healing. “Will they have more summoned guardians like this, physician?” He nods in fierce agreement to Syviis, impressed by her determination after being wounded.

Falkirk looks up from the floor-runes and thinks for a moment

2:59 Falkirk: “Aye, I’d expect so. Bound demons serve as excellent sentries. My working theory is that in this case we triggered it, likely through the sconce out yonder” He gestures towards the door.

3:01  (To Suðri Skornbrekker): The sconce outside? definitely new work. the road is old and uses some stones for paving. The brazier is right on top, in the middle of the road. Built within the year. [based on your architecture knowledge]. Same with the tower here, newer, built recently

Gray nods to Falkirk. Memorizing. The way the fire looked, the scent of the place. The scent of the daemon. He wants to be able to sense them before he triggers them next time.

Suðri Skornbrekker looks at the sconce and strokes his beard, having mustered the tower already.

3:03 Suðri Skornbrekker: “This has all been set up pretty recently. The rulers of this place might have anticipated scouts like us, or perhaps a larger invasion, and shored up their defenses.”

Suðri Skornbrekker furrows his brows. “Let’s hope we do not encounter any larger forces.”

3:05 Ken (GM): [all righty, so, you guys hole up for the while, letting Syviis rest]

3:06 Joush M.: Sounds good to me

Ken (GM) Afternoon wanes to evening, and as the wind dies down, the air again resumes the graveyard stillness this land offers. The heat does not return, and the fires keeps the chill at bay inside your tower. As darkness falls, only the rush of the river continues. A susurrus of water

Suðri Skornbrekker will keep watch

Ken (GM) sometime later, in the night…

A howling rises up from the darkness around you!

It wails, warbles, and trills off, sending chills about your spine

and it is soon answered….by dozens more voices

First just one, then two, then five, then more than you can count, all answering the first call

3:08 Ken (GM): [The noise immediately will wake any of you, its a cacophony]

download.jpg

Bomrek is bleary and angry, and very disoriented

rolling 3d6(2+2+5)=9 vs penalized HT

3:09 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Bomrek!” Suðri shakes him awake from his daze, “Guns! Cannons! How many do we have inside here?”

3:09 Ken (GM): Bomrek hiccoughs, then retches against the wall, the smell of sick pungent in the cold air

3:09 Falkirk: yare yare daze

3:09 Bomrek: “Oh Shite” he says, groggily

3:10 Syviis Adjeon: opens her eyes and begins looking for her arrows and bow

3:10 Ken (GM): [You can taste the whisky in the air, off him]

Falkirk slowly wakes and stands, turning to Gray

3:10 Falkirk: “What do you smell?”

3:10  (To Fiss): HT vs HP recovery please?

Falkirk pauses

3:10 Falkirk: “Aside from vomit.”

3:10 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(5+3+4)= 12 vs HT (HP recovery)

3:11  (From Syviis Adjeon): damn, fail, so I’m not quite at 1/3rd yet

3:11  (To Fiss): boooo

Gray shakes aside the night and scents the air like an animal, looking out into the dark, reaching out to try and find the danger comeing for them. Ignoreing the scent of vomit and dwarf in closed space.

Suðri Skornbrekker feels anger at disgust at Bomrek’s miserable state, especially when thw teo other heavy hitters of the group are injured.

3:11 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Get a hold of yourself Bomrek!”

3:11 Gray: rolling 3d6 for perception  (3+6+5)= 14

3:12  (To Gray): The wind is full of dust, ash, faint brimstone from the west. Nothing different. You dont smell anyone upwind of you. But the sound is coming from all around, there should be something

3:12 P.P. A.: We would have brought some if not all muskets inside beforehand

Bomrek mutters blearily in dwarven [“Its safe right? I though we would have time for a good drink…”]

3:12 P.P. A.: would probably have been Bomrek’s decision whether we’d also have brought a cannon

3:12 Ken (GM): Gray growls. “No new scents. Illiusions. To make it seem they are there or to hide the scent.”

3:13 Ken (GM): [“Wheres me cannons? Unpacked? At home? no, we’re on the road?”]

3:13  (From Falkirk): Do I sense anything magical?

3:13  (To Falkirk): Perception + talent!

3:13  (From Falkirk): 4v13

3:14 Suðri Skornbrekker: [“Sober up,”] Suðri grunts. Until he does, there is not much to be done with him anyway.

Gray takes up arms and stands blocking the door, ready, waiting, but his eyes go to the windows high above them. Barred, they should be safe.

3:14  (To Falkirk): You IMMEDIATELY notice the sounds are illusory. Its like hearing the same sound effect played over and over; the illusionist is a hack, and just spamming ‘scary noise #4″ over and over

Suðri Skornbrekker continues aiming into the dark, Gray’s comment not having reassured him at all.

3:15 Falkirk: “Are you sure you smell nothing new?”

Bomrek does seem to have a bag, and he staggers to it; he upturns it, and spills out his personal effects and some of the golden idols you took from the ruins [SHIT wrong bag!]

Gray shakes his head. “I only smell what the wind carries to me. I’d have to go out there to hunt.”

3:16 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Even if it’s an illusion, it means that someone must know that we are here.” He turns his head to Falkik: “Doctor, would whoever conjured that cunt have a connection to her to know when she awakens?”

3:16  (To Falkirk): Yes, to sudri’s question. Especially if they built it with personal power. Part and parcel to enchanting magic traps

3:17 Falkirk: “Most likely they would, aye. These sounds, however, are illusory.”

Gray thumps a hand on his ribs, feeling if the wicked blows he suffered have healed. It’s a way to tell how much time as passed, after all.. also, import to know if he’s ready for battle or not.

3:18 Ken (GM): [Yes and yes, its the middle of the night, about 12 hours have passed from the fight, youre up to full again Gray]

3:18 Falkirk: “Here’s my theory: whoever set up this rune lives nearby. Noticed the sentry got silenced and hopped on their horse to come right here. Now they’re trying to intimidate us into running…I suggest we go hunting.”

3:18 Suðri Skornbrekker: “So it is likely one creature nearby making it sound like there are many? Or is it more like an echo, cast from far away?”

3:19  (To Falkirk): perception based thaumatology for that weird question

3:20  (From Falkirk): 7v10

Gray likes that idea, glancing back to make sure the others will be ready and moving out, kneeling on the palisade to gaze into the darkness. His eyes dilate and drink in the starlight, scenting the air like some wild thing.

3:20  (To Gray): Perception! Low light bonuses

3:20 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Bomrek, you better stay here and protect the elf.”

Falkirk squats down and lays a hand on the elf, murmuring

3:20 Falkirk: Healing, 4 seconds, 4FP

3:20 Falkirk: 10v14

3:21 Falkirk: have 8HP. thank me later

Bomrek salutes awkwardly, and grabs his gun, bracing himself against the back wall “YESSIR” he belches

Suðri Skornbrekker looks at both of them with some concern, hoping that he’ll get his bearings soon enough to man the barricades—and not shoot the others in the back by firing blindly into the night (again).

3:21 Ken (GM): lol

3:21 Gray: rolling 3d6 for perception (3+2+5)=10

3:22 Joush M.: and Bomrek can always shoot someone from the door if he has to. We can get rid of the darkness penalty by lighting the target on fire

3:23 Falkirk: dont need to worry about the darkness penalty

Suðri Skornbrekker looks at Gray and Falkirk and nods with determination burning in his eyes. This is more his element: a walled home to protect, threats to chase away—much more like a town militia than venturing deep in enemy lands to shoot abominations.

Ken (GM) A man, cloaked in black, sits atop a horse on the opposite end of the bridge, a hood up but his pale gray skin stark in the moonlight, soft red runes glowing against his skin

Falkirk claps his hands together and quickly strings an enchantment together

3:24 Falkirk: 11v12 LIGHT

3:24  (To Falkirk): You also notice the magic dealy is likely originating from over the river; you get a ‘ping’ in that direction, where gray points out the man in black

Gray holds his shield ready but calls to the man in a deep, booming voice. “I have no quarrel with you. This is your land. I seek only to pass though”

3:25 Falkirk: A tiny wisp of light emerges from between aforementioned hands and gently floats around the room, bringing the light levels up to those of a sunny day

Falkirk follows Gray to the door, the light moving seemingly of its own accord towards the river

3:26 Falkirk: let me see how fast it moves

3:26 Ken (GM): kk

3:26 Falkirk: 1m/s

or yard, whichever we’re using

3:26 Ken (GM): yep

3:27 Joush M.: Use yards! It makes you 10% faster!

3:27 Falkirk: and it’s a 10yd radius

it makes you 40% less comprehensible

3:28 Joush M.: Not willing to min-max your measurements at the cost of comprehensibility? You bring shame to the name of GURPS.

Suðri Skornbrekker takes a piece of wood from the palisade and braces his musket on it, aiming at the man.

Ken (GM) As Falkrik steps outside with his light, the surrounding forest and river are cut into illumination; the night falls back, and you plainly see the man across the river.

Ken (GM) His skin is very pale, and he has scars crisscrossing his face; he is a man (no horns, the right shape and color) but he’s covered in glowing sigils on his skin. His hands and face have red runes snaking this way and that

Suðri Skornbrekker doesn’t have his finger on the trigger yet

Ken (GM) His horse, you see, is more than a horse; black feathered wings stretch from its massive flanks. Its a tall creature, like a Clydesdale, and well-built with muscle. Its eyes glow with red flame, and breath exhales in small plumes of the same glow.Nightmare-5e.jpg

Gray calls to the man. “I am Gray, Scorned in the service of the Milita of the North. I would ask your name.” The beast can’t help but be impressed. The winged horse is beautiful, powerful and clearly dangerous.

Falkirk mutters under his breath about dissection with a tone of rare excitement

Suðri Skornbrekker musters the man and his mount. He’s seen stranger things alright, but it’s the fact that a man who, outwardly, is not as much of a monster as the creatures they’ve slain so far, is roaming this twisted land confidently at night that makes him wary of the person. [well, he himself would feel pretty confident riding a giant flying fire-breathing horse too.]

Ken (GM) The man does naught but stare at you three; no answer back. His horse paws the earth with its hoof, and you see the wicked looking spiked claws there.

Falkirk tries addressing him in Old Gorgoth

3:34  (From Falkirk): “Alright pal, some of us are trying to sleep here. I take it you’re in charge of that puddle of goo over there so what’s the big idea here?”

3:34  (To Fiss): Falkirk put you back at full, you gonna join em?

3:34  (To Fiss): Bomrek looks fucking trashed, like, white girl full of vodka trashed

Syviis Adjeon comes out, bow at the ready

Ken (GM) the man look startled at Falkirks words. Or maybe just flabbergasted. He calls back in the strange tongue

Gray watches the man and his eerie mount in the light, stepping forward, subtly putting himself between the man and the others.

3:36  (To Falkirk): “Who are you to speak such vulgar tones in the high tongue? You talk like a cur! Begone from this sacred place, insolent child! You tread on holy grounds!”

Falkirk smiles wryly, replying

3:38  (From Falkirk): “Ground so holy that it’s your job to go round making sure nobody gets any good sleep? You talk like a pumped-up self-important child who’s stumbled across his daddy’s spell book. How about you take that feathered joke and fly back to your master, eh?”

3:39 Falkirk: “Keep those weapons ready, he’s not going to like that” Falkirk mutters

The Man on his steed holds tight to the beast as it rears back; it SCREAMS into the night, a flamethrower of bright red flame issuing from it’s mouth!

The Beast addresses you, rearing up in anger! “I SHALL FEAST ON YOUR BONES WIZARD!” in some mockery of a human voiceFlaming_Horse.jpg

Gray winces and growls. “Don’t care much for fire. What did you say to him?”

Falkirk chuckles softly

Suðri Skornbrekker smirks underneath his beard, steadying his aim.

Gray calls back to the man. “You don’t have to die tonight. Go home.”

3:41 Syviis Adjeon: muttering “Seems like a pleasant fellow.”

Ken (GM) The Man reigns on the thing, hauling on chains on the bridle, wrenching it back into control with some massive hidden strength, to control a beast as big as that

Falkirk pops a flask of viscous green liquid from his belt

Ken (GM) He calls out, in common, “Tonight, you live. Tomorrow, I cannot guarantee it”

3:42 Falkirk: “Running away. That’s what I expected.”

3:42 Syviis Adjeon: smirks “Yeah, we might slip and fall over that bridge”

Ken (GM) The Beast screams again, spreads its wings, and flashes up into the air at incredible speed

Falkirk shouts a parting shot in the same old tongue

3:43  (From Falkirk): “Make sure to learn a decent spell or two in time for tomorrow.”

Gray calls back. “Good evening then. I’ll face you in single combat in the morning if you care to challenge our right to pass by.”

Ken (GM) Trailers of fire follow it, but it is up and away, South, fast as the wind

3:43 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Is it before or past midnight already?”, Suðri calls back, glee in his voice.

Gray lowers his sword and bows his head to the man. But more, the huge fire breathing winged horse. That things like something off of a heavy metal album cover and he wants one.

3:44  (To Fiss): Man, is anyone gonna notice you speaking not-elven now?

Falkirk hooks the flask back to his belt and sighs

3:44 Joush M.: [I feel like someone seeing a person in power armor for the first time.. “I hope you aren’t plot important, because I REALLY want your stuff..”]

3:44 Ken (GM): lol

3:45 Fiss: lol

3:45 Falkirk: “Whoever’s on watch tonight, I suggest you keep both eyes open.”

3:45 Fiss: [“Damn, are you on the movie poster? No? Awesome…I got dibs.”]

3:45 Ken (GM): man you guys are either jaded as hell or just dont feel like being intimidated, do you?

Gray nods. “Aye. I don’t trust his promise.”

3:45 Falkirk: I was trying to bait him into attacking. because horse is too mobile to chase

Gray is a monster himself, and still thinks himself the most frightening thing out in the night tonight. The beast was power. He’s impressed, but not afraid

3:46 Suðri Skornbrekker: “I can stay awake for another hour, but I need some shuteye afterwards. Doubt my fellow dwarf will be lucid enough for the second shift, though.” He says to Gray and Falkirk

Gray is perhaps unwise. That would be a quite reasonable charge, the power the man displayed, casually, rivaled that of the strange elven woman that smelled of sulphur. “Was that a Night Lord?”

3:48 Falkirk: what do we know about Night Lords again

Syviis Adjeon ponders, wondering if the mace-to-the-tits reminded her of any stories about them

3:48  (To Fiss): Elven knowlege time!

3:49 Syviis Adjeon: rolling 3d6(4+3+1)=8

3:49 Joush M.: [Poor elves. they don’t have enough tit DR to take that kind of abuse]

Gray walks slowly across the bridge. Careful in the night he goes to where the man stood. He studies the tracks the beast left, the scents there. he wants to be able to recognize them if he gets a glimpse again.

3:50  (From Syviis Adjeon): beat by 4, +bonuses to Tit-DR

3:50  (To Fiss): Back in the last war, when the Alliance of elves men and Dwarves fought the Horned King, the Elves worked with their magics to defend the kingdom. Those old wizards were the Lords of Night. They worked with some massively powerful JuJu to help out. You don’t know the specifics, but there is a catch; the Elder council decreed after the war that They were heretics of the traditions of elves, and cast them out. They’re like…a shadowy cult now.

3:51  (To Gray): Brimsotne and …hatred. That’s all you can put on it. The horse left deep furrows in the stone of the rutted road. Like a plow in the earth

Suðri Skornbrekker sits back and leans against the tower, taking a swig of whatever bottle is nearest. He shakes his head. “I don’t like that more and more people are now aware of our presence here.”

Falkirk heads inside, lying back down and near-instantly reverting to sleep

Gray leans down, dipping fingers into the ruts and scenting the air again. His expression thoughtful then rising, starting back to the building, he rubs the soil between his fingers and reluctantly decides the horse was, in all likelihood, a deamon.

3:53 Syviis Adjeon: “The Lords of the Night could be anything.” she explains softly. “They were branded heretics by the elders, and while I have no doubt they are still Elf in their heart, what transformations or allies they have grown to have in the years past are unknown.” in Common still..

Falkirk snores loudly in response

Bomrek sits against the wall of the guardhouse, wide eyes and bleary “What the nine hells was that noise?!”

3:55 Joush M.: Syviis spoke common?

3:55 Suðri Skornbrekker: “Giant hell-horse, winged black as the night, and spitting fire,” Suðri notes calmly.

3:55 Bomrek “Did the elf just talk normal? Or am I still drunk?”

3:55 Syviis Adjeon: she’s been speaking common since her near-death experience…nobody’s really asked her about it though 😛

3:55 Ken (GM): lol51f5b33412b44bee910940268c52ecb1.jpg

Suðri Skornbrekker perks up.

Syviis Adjeon blushes under her camo and paint

3:56 Ken (GM): Bomrek “Wait, giant winged horse? LIke, big black flying thing?” He looks guilty “Shit, I think I saw that thing a few days ago, back in the swamp. I was on watch when it passed us by”

3:56 Suðri Skornbrekker: “By the beard of Urist, I didn’t even realise.”

Suðri Skornbrekker looks at Syviis as he exclaims this, then turns to Bomrek.

Gray seems surprised, only now seeming to realize it. “Thank you. It’s good to hear your voice… and the information’s useful.” He says, thoughtful. He wonders a moment as he stands there, then shaking his head, thinking about it. “That’s right too; I wonder how long we’ve been watched.”

3:57 Syviis Adjeon: “I simply…realized…this is not the time for foolish traditions. You are my allies…my vows can be put aside while our lives are in danger.

3:57 Falkirk: bought off the disad then?

huehueh

3:57 Fiss: yus

may as well

3:58 Ken (GM): “why the fuck is she bothering with this? not important right now”

I think the conversation went

3:58 Syviis Adjeon: she speaks well enough, but is clearly out of practice

engrish

3:58 Ken (GM): MIla Jovovich! MULTIPASS

Head-canon now cemented

Suðri Skornbrekker nods to Bomrek with a serious look on his face, then turns back to Syviis: “Well, if your vow was to your death, we can just say you died back there, and then the ol’ doc brought you back to life.” He laughs cheerily.

Syviis Adjeon laughs

Gray nods to the elf, the dark haired brute standing by the door, looking out into the night and chuckling softly at Suðri’s wit.

3:59 Syviis Adjeon: “I also considered that possibility. I doubt my family will be to heartbroken.”

*too

3:59  (To Fiss): Hell of a vocabulary for Broken Common 😛

4:00 Fiss: blames all typos on the elf’s Engrish

4:00  (From Syviis Adjeon): also buying that up/off. 😛

4:00 P.P. A.: I’ve been racking them up as well tonight

Gray almost ask if the elf is estranged from her family before he lapses into silence. He doesn’t want to pry.

4:00  (From Syviis Adjeon): doesn’t make sense not too

4:01 Ken (GM): allllrighty; good time to break here. some of you need to sleep then STUDY 😛

4 XP each! and buy up/off the things youve been planning. Im sure you guys are around the 12 or 15 XP mark

next week, the morning rises and you guys do what cha gotta facing off against a literal Nightmare

4:02 Fiss: Yay!

HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE VISIONS!

That’s called Life, Dibb.

4:02 Falkirk: ayy

4:02 Ken (GM): Im gonna follow up with Adolph; hes missed a lot of sessions, Im gonna see if Sunday would work better for him, or if this is all just a series of bad coincidences of scheduling

P.P. A. has 34 unspent XP

4:03 Ken (GM): jesus FUCK

34?

4:03 Joush M.: I have 12! I’m planning some things. I will run them past you.. Great session, everyone. First time facing mortality for Gray and Silyvis

4:03 P.P. A.: geez, I need to actually do somehting with these

4:03 Ken (GM): no SHIT

4:03 P.P. A.: Didn’t spend any since we left the fort

4:03 Joush M.: Gray shall teach him the ways of BEATING ASS

4:03 P.P. A.: mainly because I don’t really know on what, although I suppose I could put some more into all the weapon skills

4:04 Joush M.: Acutely, unless he wants to learn Broadsword gray likely can’t teach him anything

Or tracking, I guess.

Talk to Falkirk, get some Forbidden Lore?

4:05 Gray: Could be useful to have a second person to roll that

4:05 Ken (GM): man, yeah, bring your main stuff up? Like guns and riding, etc?

34 points is just boggling yo

4:05 Joush M.: Thank you for running tonight Ken, it was a good session like always

4:05 Ken (GM): Wilkomen!

I try to have fun and make fun 😀

also, NIGHTMARE

4:05 P.P. A.: *„Gern geschehen“ or „keine Ursache“

4:06 Ken (GM): 😛

right, we have a real german in here

4:06 P.P. A.: >next week, the morning rises and you guys do what cha gotta facing off against a literal Nightmare

would be neat to have one session where weren’t beset by truly grotesque horrors

4:06 Ken (GM): *making notes*

4:06 P.P. A.: half of the party is mauled in a one-sided battle, other flees to some surreal area

then it’s revealed that it was all a dream/nightmare

4:07 Ken (GM): Did that once in another game

fiss was in it (I think, at the time)

they were dealing with Nazi superscience, alternate dimensions, and the old ones

just one long tiring session where they all died horribly

then woke up

and everyone went “THAT BASTARD” as intended

[Tipping Point; I have some of the early logs written up, but much of that game is sadly lost to the ages now… –Ken

4:07 P.P. A.: hah

4:08 Ken (GM): kind of a dick move, but I think they got the point and had fun with it at least
